February 15, 200422 yr When I taxi and use the rudder, I have found that the plane will start to turn and then straighten up; this happened going left or right.A bit confused, I decided to watch from the external view. My plane is happy as larry on taxi, then I twist my joystick and hold the rudder to the left. I see the rudder on the plane move, then a second later pop back to the middle, despite the fact I am still holding the joystick to the left.Has anyone experienced this same issue, or know a simple fix?My workaround at the moment is to quickly twist left, then return to middle, then twist again etc....Thanks
February 15, 200422 yr You don't say if your stick is gameport or USB.I seem to remember quite a while ago something about USB controllers going to sleep when not used for a while and I think the fix was to do with polling. Sorry I can't be more detailed on that but with luck it may prompt soemone who does remember to reply.I have had similar problems with my CHPro pedals after a 2hr flight or so they would stop responding but the latest drivers from CH seem to have fixed the problem.Best of luck.
February 16, 200422 yr All you have to do is move the slider in the controller assignment menu within FS all the way to the left or the right - can't remember which. Takes a couple of seconds to see which one! Allcott
February 16, 200422 yr If you've got more than one joystick plugged in you might check and make sure that rudders aren't assigned to an axis on the second stick too. FS takes input from whichever moves last, so you can be giving it a constant input on Controller 1 and if a little noise hits Controller 2 FS will see the second value and kick the rudder back to the middle if the second joystick is centered.- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
February 16, 200422 yr Sorry I wasn't very detailed in my problem.I have a MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 plugged via USB. This is the only game controller I have plugged in, I un-plugged the others when I first had the problem to see if it would resolve it.Interestingly enough I have discovered the following. If I turn the rudder without moving the elevator/ailerons then everything works fine.If I turn and set off movement of the elevator/Ailerons then the rudder does what I described in my original post.I now believe this might be due to the one of the following programs I have running.1. Active Weather 20042. FSHotSeat3. FSForceAlthough I need to experiment tonight to see if I can determine the cause, I believe it will probably be FSForce.Has anyone heard of this? Thanks again...
February 16, 200422 yr My CH products USB rudder pedals did this once after I messed with the sensitivities sliders in FS..they didn't like that. Clicking on "reset defaults" solved the problem, however all button assignments on the yoke had to be reset..JamesJ
February 17, 200422 yr Can't be FS Force. It does NOT implement any command controls within FS, it's a separate module that adds force feedback, not control surface inputs. The problem is either that you have auto-rudder set or that you have the sliders misplaced.Allcott
