FSNavigator, MS FS2004 Flight Planner and me

Featured Replies

Hi all;I understand that to file a VFR flight plan with ATC in Flight Simulator 2004, I first must create a flight plan in FS Flight Planner.I also understand that I can create a flight plan with FSNavigator. My question is; Can I export, send to, or otherwise have FS 2004 Flight Planner recognize a flight plan I created in FSNavigator?I'm trying to get out of having to make two separate flight plans so that when I start up a flight, I can request a VFR flight from ATC.Thanks,DonaldS

FSNav has a module to allow export and conversion of its flight plans to several other formats, including squawkbox and FS2004. Unfortunately, to my knowledge, there is no way to convert and export an FS Planner plan to FSNav. But, at least it works the way you want it.Sherm

Thanks Sherm, I appreciate the reply.I meant to say IFR anyway, not VFR. Sheesh. One part of your answer did get my attention though. You said, "FSNav has a module to allow export and conversion of its flight plans to several other formats, including squawkbox and FS2004." That's what I want. By that I mean, I want the ability to export a FSNavigator flight plan I've created and send it to the FS2004 flight planner. That way I can create a flight plan with FSNavigator and not have to mess around doing it again in FS2004 Flight Planner - when I want to file an IFR flight. As it now stands, I create a flight plan (.fsn) from; let's say, Denver to Salt Lake City. Okay. When I start radio communication with the tower to get permission to taxi to a runway starting an IFR flight, FS2004 does not have that ATC option available like it does when I create an IFR Flight Plan in FS Planner. How do I do that? Thanks,DonaldS

you can export fsnavigator to fs2004. after you do that if you open up the fs. flight planner and find your plan then load it. If after you load the plan you save it. It will then be converted to fs2004 format. This is reguired if you use as2004. I think the fsnav plans are in 2002 format. hope this helps keith

You are going to love this. When you open FSNav and create a flight plan, go to the Plan option on the vertical menu bar. Click it and you will see several more options, among them "export." click it and you will have the option to export to FS2004. A box will open linked to your fsplan directory. Just name the file so you can load it into the fs flight planner. Then go back into FS2004, click on Flight Planner and load your new and converted fp...You can set it for VOR or IFR just as you would with any other flight plan, adjust altitudes, etc...I hope this is clear...but, it really is easy...Sherm

Thanks Sherm, thanks Keith, for your tip and advice. Now I can move into another dimension of FS2004.Thanks again,DonaldS

One small note to all of this. When/if you plan in FSNav to fly high or low altertude airways (maybe newer updated ones), once you open them in FS9 flight planner it will say "VOR to VOR" instead of high/low altertude. This is because the airways in FSNav are different then those in FS9.
