February 17, 200422 yr I have encountered two problems with the autopilot (FS9 real air cessna)1) In certain circumstances the autopilot fly the plane so it repeatly stalls. This has happened when I'm climbing to a high altitude and in bad weather (turbulence strong winds)Is this like the real world meaning that in reality I had to switchof the autopilot since it can't handle situations like theese?2) When I turn the airplane by moving the bug I have noticed that an unc
February 17, 200422 yr 1) The autopilot defaults to a 700fpm climb, which the Cessna can't maintain at higher altitudes. You need to either decrease the climb rate, or fly it by hand.2) The autopilot is a 2-axis autopilot, so it only has control of the ailerons and elevator, not rudder.Light GA aircraft aren't like 747's, you can't let the autopilot do everything for you. I generally manually fly to my altitude, turn to my headings, and just use the autopilot to hold things while I check my charts. Most of the time I don't even use the autopilot.

February 18, 200422 yr Author good replies. Thuther thing to consider (if you've not already) is that the recip airplanes in FS need to be leaned (mixture pulled back progressively) at altitudes above about 2500 feet (in a real 172, I was taught to not lean below 3000' but in FS it starts yelling at you below 3000' (if you have that feature enabled) so you need to start leaning sooner to maintain max efficiency with the engine.Dave Blevins System: Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3 mobo *** i7 2700K @ 5gHz w/ Corsair H80 cooler NVidia GTX 570 OC *** 8 GB 1600 Corsair Vengeance DRAM *** CoolerMaster HAF X case System overclocked and tuned for FSX by fs-gs.com Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog stick/throttle & CH Products Pro Pedals Various GoFlight panels *** PFC avionics stack
