How to disconnect AT and AP automatically?

Featured Replies

Hello Captains!How can I set up FMC to disconnect Auto-throttle (A/T) and Auto-Pilot (A/P) automatically during a landing on a VFR flight?My 737NGX won't disconnect them until I disconnect manually...Thanks in advance.

You can't. Disconnecting things must come at the command of the pilot, which is how it's supposed to be...You can, however, assign key commands via the FMC to use buttons on your hardware, instead of mouse clicks.

Hmm, I see...I was just wondering because MD-11 has this feature. When approaching an airport, it disconnects AT automatically.I thought 737NGX would be like that too.

Does it? I don't seem to recall that being a feature...

Interesting. I just rode on a FedEx MD-11 coming home from work last week. They can leave the A/T to touchdown, unlike on the 737 normal landing.

The MD-11 is not a Boeing-produced product, McDonnell-Douglas had a very different design philosophy. No Boeing plane leaves the A/T on for landing unless it's an autoland.
