Received Saitek Radio Panel - Questions

Featured Replies

Hello,I just received the Saitek Radio panel and started setting it up. I've run into a couple of minor problems and have some questions. My Set Up:FS9Registered FSUIPCSPAD - just downloaded for the radio panelI primarily fly PMDG Md-11 and I used that plane to test the radio panel. I loaded up the MD-11 at the default airport and noticed I had to run SPAD in the background for the panel to light up. Is that correct? The panel will not light up until I load up the aircraft. The instructions state the panel lights up once the USB cable is plugged in but that didn't happen for me. Does the panel only light up when in the aircraft?Does SPAD always have to be running? I did load the Saitek disk but I don't think it downloaded the drivers. I looked in the Task Manager and didn't notice anything. I'm not the most computer literate and might have missed something.I then logged into VATSIM using squawkbox to test frequencies. All frequency worked except for 119.775, which said it was "text only" in squawkbox. I double checked with the ATC controller to make sure he was on voice and he was. Seems kind of strange but perhaps it was a squawkbox/VATSIM anomaly. I closed FS9 and rebooted and logged into VATSIM. I noticed the panel would not work, so I then closed FS9 and SPAD and logged in. That seemed to do the trick but I find it strange I have to close everything down.It doesn't seem quite plug and play but I'm sure I'm missing something. Thanks for any advice on setting up.CK

Yes, SPAD has to be running in the background, and even when running, the panel won't light up until your flight loads.
