ATI RADEON HD 5670 advice needed please(FS9)

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,I'm fairly new to the forums, presently I'm running FS9 onthe following system with the above mentioned graphicscard.Dual Core Intel Pentium 3Ghz3,300Mb DDR2 RAMWindows 7 home premium editionI use the following driver version:Driver Packaging Version 8.92-111109a-129965C-ATIand CCC 11.12In general FS9 runs smooth with my system (frames locked at 28)but with some aircraft (Ifly,LeveL D) my frame ratesexperience drops every few seconds to values in the middle teens. This happens only in 2D panel view, outside stays solidly at 28 frames. Not sure whether its really the graphics card, but thats my best guessafter trying everything else and otherwise my system seems to keep up.I'm not that knowledgeable with graphic cards and already gatheredthat ATI is not the best choice for flightsim, but anyhow is thereany older driver version recommended for this card to make it run better?Or any specific CCC settings for FS9 for optimal performance?Would be great, if someone could point me in the right direction .Best regards,Oliver

Oliver I have't run FS9 for awlile but I have recentley upgraded my GPU to ati Radeon 5570 hd 1gb. my settings to run FSX are:- SoothVision HD a-a.....use application settings Ticked SoothVision HD a-f.....use application settings ticked Catalyst AI............Texture Filtering Qualitity.. mid Qualitity (enable Surface format optimization ticked Mip Map Detail Level ...High Qualitity Wait for Vertical Refreash ....at the moment unticked Anti-aliasing Mode..performance (multi-sample aa) openGL Settings unticked although you are running FS9 you can try them anyway I have been messing about (tweaking I suppose) with my FSX.cfg file and one value i have recentley changed is the TEXTUR_BANDWIDTH-MULT=252 normall for fsx this is normally recommed at 90 or below but as i have changed to photo sceneary from ORBX auto-gen type i found out that I could go upto 400, but after a few test I decided on 252. As regards FS9 I sure it different from FSX in this respect and I have seen somewhere you can use much higher valuse than FSX for any type of Sceneary. when I ran a test on my gpu the 2d scores were pritty low and the 3d scores were up with most others. I ran a test on fsx with the 737PIC and I did't get any frame drops from vc to 2d panel in fact they are alot better. Hope this helps not withstading that it is fsx stuff Bob

Onebob, thanks a lot for sharing your settings, these might be well worth a try even if yours are for FSX.I alreadyplayed with the texture_bandwidth_multi variable, but it seems to have no visible effect (neither positivenor adverse) on my graphic performance. Thanks again Onebob , I appreciate you trying to help!Best regards,Oliver
