Reinstalling FSX - InstallShield Wizard goes stuck when "Preparing to install" appears

Featured Replies

I have game, Microsoft Flight simulator Deluxe edition. Today I tried to have clean reinstall. Before unistalling the game, I deleted every add-ons regarding it. After everything was done I unistalled it. After the unistaller progrmas had done their job, I deleted the rest of the files manually. Then i restart my computer and put the disk number 1 in. It starts Install Shield Wizard as usually, but it goes stuck when "Preparing to install" appears. What should i do? I also tried it with another computer and installer works perfectly. Also i'm not able to press cancel. Here's picture

Operating system? What else is on this system that might conflict....i.e. dvd burning software, virus software...etc

Cheers,

Jonathan

Did you cleanup the registry?

Also make sure your Microsoft dotnet 4 is installed and up-to-date. Make sure all 32 bit MS Visual's from 2005 to 2010 are installed (Nick N, the guy who wrote setting up FSX and tuning it and a FSX addon developer, recommends 32 bit MSV's even though you have a 64 bit OS as FSX is a 32 bit program). Also make sure the disk is clean. See if you can see the files on the disk by opening up directory on the disk. If the disk is unreadable, it will tell you that when you do this. If you can see the files on the disk, double-click the setup.exe and see if it will install then. Something may be wrong with your DVD drive.Best regards,Jim
