Lots of API.dll crashes

Featured Replies

Hi,This is the second time I post this, and I'm not sure if it's NGX related, but since some time, I'm having lots of API.dll crashes. It happens randomly at any point. Around 1 out of 5 flight are with a crash. I have UiAutomationCore.dll. I have recently also the msvcr71.dll, I also have the newest version of FSUIPC (and my G3D.dll errors are gone). I just don't know what's causing this. My overclock is stable as I did 3 tests of 12 hours.I hope someone can help me with this. These kind of things is the reason that I'm getting fed up with FSX. It's is great game, but just too unstable for the pc's and OS's of nowadays.

In other flight, again something strange, something I've never had before. I was flying on IVAO and FSX just locked up, and I couldn't do anything anymore. I had to kill it through taskmanager. I'm coming close to a point where I just want to give up on it. How can other people say that they're happy with FSX, and they want to continue playing it for longer? Well, I don't understand this, because it's just getting too old and too unstable. There always something wrong with FSX. Black screens, freezes, crashes of G3D.dll, d3d9.dll, API.dll. And now it just locks up? Always when a previous problem has been fixed another one arrives. I've been able to fix all my problems so far, especially this API.dll crash. Well, let's hope this lock up is just a one time error. I've been having a lot of those problems since flying on IVAO. Never had any problem or crashes with FSX before. Yes, FSX is a lot of fun, when it works.

API.dll is part of FSX - usually when you're getting crashes that reference sim or Windows OS component dlls like that it's a system problem - overheating CPU or GPU, unstable overclock, bad RAM, driver issues etc. I'm not aware of any NGX issue that causes those types of crashes.

Thanks for your answer. My overclock is surely stable, as I did all the three tests in Prime95 for 12 hours with no errors. My CPU is also not overheating, I have an aftermarket cooler and the CPU only reaches around 45 - 50C when playing FSX, and around 60C under full load. My RAM, I don't know if it's bad... The RAM I have is Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz. Seems good RAM to me. It's set to default 1600 MHz and 1.5V, not overclocked. My GPU, looks really suspicious. It's really a bad one, and when playing FSX it reaches around 70-75C. My GPU is not built to run on such high tempatures. Also, my GPU drivers look a little suspicious. I have been trying different drivers in the past, not sure which is the best one. I simply uninstalled them via Add/Remove programms, then rebooted and installed the other drivers. Currently I'm running on the 270 NVIDIA drivers. Not sure if these are any good for FSX, but heard good things about it. Also, within the next 2-3 weeks, I'm gonna upgrade to a GTX 580, might this solve my problem? Also, I have just installed FSX on a seperate drive, is that better to prevent these kind of errors? I'm not having these errors all the time, around 1 out of 8 flights I have an API.dll crash. Totally randomly, sometimes immediately after takeoff, sometimes in cruise, and sometimes during descent.

I fixed my black screens and d3d9.dll errors by simply removing ENB Series. I fixed my G3D.dll errors by simply installing the newest version of FSUIPC (which is version 4.751a). Doesn't have to be registered as far as I know.

Hey thanks! I didn't know that this product existed at all! But are you sure this also works for API.dll crashes? Because as Ryan said, it could be system related.
