January 10, 201214 yr I'm currently flying to ESSA and when checking the weather for ESSA in EFB (connected to use AS 2012 for weather) I have a METAR string that looks like thisESSA 101350Z 24010KT CAVOK M02/M03 Q1016 R01L/520258 R01R/510167 R08/550250What I wonder here is about the RVR...what exactly does the 520258 for instance mean for 01L...?
January 10, 201214 yr Richard,I have the same setup (AS2012, EFB) and I think there is a bug. Sometimes I have VMC but RVR 365, meaning visibility just 365 meters. Could not find the problem yet; AS2012 or weather presentation in the display unit.Peter Peter Win10/64/32,0GB, [email protected], Gigabyte 1080ti, P3Dv5.1
January 10, 201214 yr Author Ok, good to know I'm not the only one puzzled by this. If it's a bug hopefully Damian and the rest of the team can work it out. I don't think EFB is to blame since EFB only reads the AS 2012 data as I understood it.
January 10, 201214 yr It wouldn't make sense to have an RVR report in a METAR that says CAVOK!!!!! There is no visibility report of mist/haze or fog. What you are looking at is the rwy state:for example R01L/520258R01L/ rwy 01 Left5 =rwy deposit 5=Wet Snow2= extent of deposit =11%-25%02= depth of deposit= 2mm58= Friction coefficientvololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
