What's it called? Stearman or Kaydet?

Featured Replies

Microsoft is calling the default biplane a Boeing Stearman. On Boeing's own website it is called Kaydet. What is the right and full name of this aircraft? As I understand it the right name would be ''Boeing-Stearman 75 Kaydet'' (deliberatly leaving out US military designations).http://www.boeing.com/history/boeing/kaydet.html

I think you answered your own question with the Boeing link. Either name works. And after a 5 second Google search, I found this link: http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/detail.asp?aircraft_id=334It specifically says that Kaydet is used to identify all models derived from the Stearman Model 75. Stearman was the name of the company that designed the Model 75 before Boeing bought them. "Kaydet" could be considered a nick-name for the plane, I guess.

I never said it took 5 seconds to load. I said from start to the time it finished loading the link that I clicked after READING what each link went to. I don't just click the first link that appears on my screen.
