I think the "docks" you are referring to are by AirGizmos - and - while they are installed in many GA aircraft in the US - they seem to be in a legal "grey" area left up to interpretation... It really depends on the opinion of your local FSDO guy... While I've heard of them getting ships power and a cable to cross file with a certified GPS - I have never heard of any being configured to drive an autopilot or the aircrafts primary instruments...
