  1. Hi Al, Thanks for this as well - let :e poke around... Regards, Scott
  2. Hi Al, Thanks for all your valuable insights - yeah - the scenery while nice to have - is the lowest priority on my totempole. I need to get another HOTAS as the one I had was getting flakey - part of the reason for my absence. Regards, Scott
  3. Hi Martin/Al, Thanks gents - yeah - poking around on what's new as I haven't kept up. From what I've read - it seems there is no real rush to leave P3D which I enjoy immensely... Regards, Scott
  4. Hi Folks, Been MIA for a while - I know... Here's an interesting tidbit I recently came across. Nearly 2.8 million views of our beloved Lear on Youtube: Regards, Scott
  5. Hi Folks, Been MIA for a while - think I'll give P3D an update to v5 - vs - starting with an entirely new sim. P3D has kept me pretty darn happy. Regards, Scott
  6. Hi Mark, Had a tour of a Trafalgar in Groton CT once - great group of guys - - - thanks. Yeah - only major fire I can think of for a US submarine underway - since we adopted teardrop hulls is the USS Bonefish (diesel boat). (3) Dead - including the Captain. Regards, Scott
  7. Hi Mark, No kidding - as a submariner - this story hit close to home. Regards, Scott
  8. Hi Folks, Another shipyard worker that wanted to go home early ? https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/03/15/nuclear-submarine-fire/1990663/ Regards, Scott
  9. Hi Folks, Jet A is probably the most combustible product onboard. Shipboard fires are no joke. Be safe shipmates. Regards, Scott
  10. Hi John, It depends how you fly - on Carenado in general - they usually look and fly well enough - but if you can't put an RXP unit in it - you can't fly realistically. Anything with Glass Panel or FMC is based off the default FSX/P3D GPS and all the limitations that entails. If you just fly from Point A to Point B without deviation you can usually get by OK. If you add realistic ATC services that require changes to your flight plan during the flight - you'll be disappointed. For me - I just steer clear of their products with an FMC or Glass Panel and I'm much happier for it. Regards, Scott
  11. Hi Folks, Traveled all over the Pacific in the 80's/90's - - - Guam was probably my favorite stop - learned SCUBA while there - diving was incredible - looking forward to see what DCS does with it... Regards, Scott
  12. Hi Julian, I did buy the box and I did get the encoders to work - kind of... Using FSUIPC they are just different repetitive button presses dependent on the direction of rotation. So I do use them for setting things like AP (ALT VS HDG) - the problem is that you need both a [Fine] and [Course] adjustment to work well - so I needed to dedicate two separate rotary encoders for each function... I also broached the subject with Peter's son regarding FSUIPC - as all that we would need is for FSUIPC to have a [Shift] function able to be assigned to a button - allowing each button, switch, encoder to have two states - [Normal] and [Shifted]… That way I could use (1) encoder per function and use the [Shift] button to toggle between [Course] and [Fine] adjustments... The [Shift] button could prove very useful by effectively doubling the number of functions we could assign in general... Peter's son stated he would look into it - but I haven't heard anything further and that was a while back... I'm unfamiliar with both SPAD and LINDA - so I'm not very helpful with that... It seems this should be able to be handled in some fashion - it's not rocket science... My CH Joysticks had proprietary software that allowed for a [Normal] and [Shifted] button press... The button box itself [posted above] is of very high quality... Best of luck... Regards, Scott
  13. Hi, Yeah - LOL - New York is the epitome of a well managed virus response - for some reason we thought it wise to order nursing homes to take in infected COVID patients - propelling us to the number one hotspot in the country - causing countless unnecessary deaths and untold suffering. You have far more faith in government than I and the number manipulation accusations happens on BOTH sides. Regards, Scott
  14. Hi, I live and work in downtown Manhattan - arguably the hardest hit spot in the US - our hospitals are not overwhelmed - we sent the Navy Hospital Ship away - we dismantled temporary hospitals setup in convention centers and Central Park - we have all the medical equipment we need - we have all the beds we need - nobody is going without ventilators - nobody is going without care. Laugh if you will - a successfully flattened curve spreads health care needs over time and the peak of hospitalizations under the given health care capacity available - a measure we've successfully met. Regards, Scott
  15. Hi Folks, Been MIA for a bit not really using the sim much - nice to see some familiar faces around here - might as well jump in the deep end. Camus: "The welfare of humanity is always the alibi of tyrants". Here's a video that best describes my opinion on the matter: Regards, Scott
  16. Hi Ryan, Yeah - been a while - I've been on a long break for a bit but v5 has me intrigued... Glad to see you still around... 🙂 Hi... That does sound pretty exciting - thanks for the detailed response... Regards, Scott
  17. Hi Folks, The water physics has been one of my pet peeves since introduced in FS - are the physics any better meaning you get drift with the wind and movement with an aircraft as long as the prop is turning - meaning they’ve eliminated that unrealistic “sticky water” ? Regards, Scott
  18. Hi Folks, I learned out of KMGJ/KPOU so KSWF was a routine stop... One night we were doing some routine night work around 2100 - called up Stewart - controller had a very thick "NYC accent" - from our initial call you could tell the controller wasn't really happy to have us bothering him - no other traffic - after the first time around the pattern he started complaining we had a "crappy radio" and he couldn't hear us well - we checked everything and switched to com2 - he started complaining again - we knew we didn't have two "crappy radios" but we diligently checked everything again switching back to com1 - on our next transmission - same deal more complaints from Mr. Sunshine - finally a JBU A320 around 10 miles out comes up - he's like "Stewart Tower - I don't know what you're celebrating but we hear Skyhawk 64281 loud and clear - perhaps you need to check YOUR communication gear" - lol - redemption... He was a bit more pleasant after that but we didn't stay much longer... Regards, Scott
  19. Hi Folks, LOL - we heard the same when both Flight and DTG were so in vogue [yawn]... Regards, Scott
  20. Hi DJ, Hah - my mistake - I thought you were beta testing Bernardo's work or something - no matter - fantastic shots there - sir... Regards, Scott
  21. Hi Folks, @DJJose NICE DJ !!! Looks like you've got it dialed in - love the appropriately colored housing - how's the frames with all that eye candy ? Can't wait to visit the swimming pigs... @Kilo60 Hi Chris - sorry - I don't have any "inside" information on this - it does look superb - and probably one of the most desirable locations for east coast GA pilots - it's practically a right of passage to visit the islands... I'm looking forward to it as well... Regards, Scott
  22. Hi Folks, Saw the bald French guy with the bandana land this at St Barts - now - THAT - is impressive... Regards, Scott
  23. Hi... ROFL - oh christ - had I known you were building it - I would have given you all my buildings and such as a place to start - I was only two hangars shy of all the buildings within the confines of the airport - not that you needed my help because that's an OUTSTANDING effort... You did it far more accurately in the surrounding area - than I - looks like your sat terrain is a much higher res - so that can't be FS9... Super nice job - you even have the NEW runway in... Everything looks so familiar... Regards, Scott
