Start-up procedures question

Featured Replies

Hi guysI have a question about the start up procedures in the Malibu. In the manual, in the before start section it says:Ground Clearance Switch -- onATIS -- checkStartup Clearance -- requestGround Clearance Switch -- offCould someone please explain this to me? I cant figure out how I'm supposed to tune into the ATIS frequency with no power to my GNS 430/530 (Reality XP).

The only thing that is able to be simulated here would be the ATIS, turn your battery on, #1 or #2, and turn on the radio master, or avionics, get the ATIS, then turn off the avionics and complete the checklist. A ground clearance switch basically allows you to turn on a radio without having to turn on the battery master switch, but I don't think this switch is functional in the sim, I tried it before and settled on that. So, just keep it standard, master on, avionics on, get the ATIS, avionics off, go to Start checklist. (I'm assuming your GPS unit isn't on due to a total cold and dark situation, therefore the need for the battery and radio master switch. If it is a problem with your XP I can't help you)

Regards,

Kyle

Thanks for the replies :). I had assumed that this would be a limitation within FSX.
