January 22, 201214 yr Hi Everyone:Just wondering - sometimes upon landing, I get the HUD to display the runway edges/perimeter, and other times, at other runways, I don't get it. I always have the course on both sides of the aircraft set correctly, and I always get the the circles with the needle centered, but I dont ALWAYS get the runway edge to depict. Is this a function of each individual runway, whereas some runways will transmit this info, and others will not? Example, I always get the runway depiction in Philadelphia KPHL with RWY 27L, but I am yet to get it with Pittsburgh KPIT RWY 28L or 10L. Can anyone explain this to me?Thanks,Chris Catalano
January 22, 201214 yr you have to input the runway height and length into the HGS pad near your radios to get the outlines Mitch
January 23, 201214 yr The runway outline is a AIII feature. You have to set both NAV radios to the ILS, and set both courses to the final approach course. Also, make sure the AIII mode is the active mode in the HGS display panel.
January 26, 201214 yr Author Exactly which number on the chart indicates the runway height? Is it the TDZE, the airport elevation, ...or something else...?Chris
January 26, 201214 yr Due to airports being completely flat in FSX, you should use the airport elevation. Touch down zone elevation shown on charts is not accurate for our purposes as all of our runways are effectively at the airport elevation. January 26, 201214 yr Author Thanks - just curious - what about in real life - would a pilot use the TDZE?Chris
