737NGX fails to load on XP32 after installing FLIGHT Beta

Featured Replies

737NGX not loading (FSX crashes onload), after Installing FLIGHT beta ??Anyone running XP 32 bit having this issue ?Even after un-installing FLIGHT ?FLIGHT wanted to load an XP Update (patch) before it would install (depsite all Windows updates being already installed)Whatever that was, I am suspecting it may be causing the issue.I know, serves me right for Beta Testing Flight !!

the update (if it was a Windows Update update) will be listed in your add and remove programs in control panel. You may have to tick a box marked "show updates" and then sort by date. It maye be important! Be interesting to know what it was..Alternatively, perhaps MS have been reading the MSF forum on AVSIM and have decided to kill FSX installs! :(

You cannot distribute or install a software package in Windows Server 2003 if the software package contains a very large signed file. This problem typically occurs when the signed file is larger than 500 megabytes. For example, you may experience the following symptoms:
  • Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) that is running on a Windows Server 2003-based server cannot deploy Windows Vista Service Pack 1 to the clients.
  • Game manufacturers cannot distribute games that have large signed files.

Note This problem also occurs in Windows XP.

Cannot imagibe why the above should affect teh 737NGX, but I will try uninstalling it, and see what happens.WINDOWs is always an "adventure" :(

Hmm..It changes crypt.dll (among others) which is part of the SSL setup on Windows..Perhaps NGX needs it for code signing or something..I can see why the update was installed, as I'm guessing (and I know you can't say) that Flight was D/L to your PC and it is large (10Gb or so acording to MSF forum posts) There has obv been an issue with the changed files affecting large downloads..I guess if you've already downloaded it it would be fine to uninstall it. You may get a message telling you Flight won't work if you uninstall it. Ignore it :) <-- EDIT that's not sarcasm :) I see this message when uninstalling updates all the time; it is usually safe to ignore..

Uninstalled the KB -- rebooted, still have the 737NGX loading issue in FSX.Also now have exactly the same issue in P3D, so I am now thinking its something in my Windows system that has got messed up, as it started to fail in BOTH FSX & P3D at the same time. (sigh) ..I guess I cannot "Blame" FLIGHT after all :(

The obvious follow-up question is - did you contact... whoever at MS Game Studios you beta testers are supposed to contact?

The obvious answer is - no .. after seeing FLIGHT, I uninstalled it and am no longer beta testing it..In all fairness, I now think that installing FLIGHT was not the issue, but it is a liitle disturbing ( and technically interesting), that with no apparent changes to FSX, I am having these issues in FSX.As nobody else has reported a similar issue with FLIGHT and the 737NGX, ( which was the original reason for starting this Topic), there is little more to say. Thanks to those that gave feedback. When I find what the cause is, I'll make one final post in this Topic.
