January 31, 201214 yr Hello to everyone!A friend suggested to post my question here. Will this configuration work well with FSX (prepar3D) + SB3 + aerosoft/tampa etc scenery + REX + AS etc + ac similar to PMDG NGX?I know that there are countless posts about FSX computers but what about this configuration?motherboard:Gigabyte GA-P67A-D3-B3 s.1155GIGABYTE GA-P67A-D3-B3 / P67 chipset / BUS 1333/1066/800 /2 Channel DDR3/2xPCI-Ex16x(1x4x)/3xPCI-Ex 1X /2xPCI/4x SATA II/2xSATAIII/12x USB2.0/2xUSB3.0/RAID/GbE LAN(Realtek 8111E)/8ch/Dual BIOS/ATXgraphics:1GB Club3D HD6870 OC PCI-Exp - cheapestClub 3D ATI RADEON HD 6870 OC (Barts XT) 1GB 256BIT GDDR5,DirectX 11, 2xDVI, HDCP, HDMI, Display Port2x, 940/4400 PCI-Exp (CGAX-68724O)or2GB Club3D HD6970-F PCI-E - + 100 EURClub 3D ATI RADEON HD HD 6970 2048MB 256BIT GDDR5 ,Directx11,2xminiDP, 2x DVI, HDMI, 880/5500 PCI-Exp,(CGAX-69748F)CPU:Intel Core i5-2500K 3,3G/6M - cheapestCPU Intel Core i5-2500K 3,3GHz, 4 cores, 6M LGA1155 GPU 850/1100MHz 95W VT BOX, unlocked (BX80623I52500K)orIntel Core i7-2600 3,4G/8M - + 86 EURCPU Intel Core i7-2600 3,4GHz, 4 cores, 8M LGA1155 GPU 850/1350MHz 95W VT BOX (BX80623I72600)orIntel Core i7-2600K 3,4G/8M - + 108 EURCPU Intel Core i7-2600K 3,4GHz, 4 cores, 8M LGA1155 GPU 850/1350MHz 95W VT BOX, unlocked (BX80623I72600K)Memory:DDR3 4GB 1333C9 KingstonKingston 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM, KVR1333D3N9/4GJust write an honest opinion (best if based on experience), suggestions are welcome.Thank You in advance,Heigo Edited January 31, 201214 yr by londonc Heigo Tomba
January 31, 201214 yr The Mobo choice looks pretty good. I would go for the 2500K; the only thing either of the 2600 variants offers is hyperthreading, which FSX cannot utilize anyway. Definitely do not buy the 2600 without the K, as it does not offer an unlocked CPU multiplier, and will make overclocking difficult if not impossible. I agree with benorg that the new Nvidia architecture pretty promising, but there will always be a new technology on the horizon that will be better, and, at some point you are going to have to actually build a computer. For FSX I would choose whatever Nvidia card fits in your budget. I love Radeon cards and absolutely despise Nvidia as a company, but as far as running the obsolete technology that FSX is based on, I have found Nvidia does far better. Just my two cents.

January 31, 201214 yr Not nonsense, merely a different opinion, and as the OP did not state a purchasing timeline, perhaps useful. My point was actually quite valid. I didn't say Ivy Bridge and Kepler are crap, merely offered an opinion on hardware that the OP might actually be able to go out and purchase today.
January 31, 201214 yr Get the 2500K or the 2600K, but definitely not the plain 2600 as it will not really over-clock. Get the 6970 2 GBy, as the 1 GBy of the 6870 is tight for today's aircraft and scenery add-ons. As others have said, the best would be for you to wait for Ivy Bridge (sports Tri-Gate technology!)as you would have PCIe 3 (2x the BW of PCIe 2), provided of course you pick a MB model thatsupports PCIe 3 (the Gigabyte GA-P67A-D3-B3 apparently does not - not mentioned in the specs)Cheers,- jahman. February 28, 201214 yr Author Thank You all for replays.First of all it was a grate feedback about newer technology, since I last purchased (build by myself) PCs years ago.I totally agree with persons who told that new technology is on the horizon, but the case is that computer hardware will be outdated at the time when You arrive with Your new purchase to home... so I will not wait for the Ivy Bridge etc. The only good thing will be that "today's" products will get cheaper if new processors and video cards will arrive to the market.Today I have changed the configuration as follows and I have contacted a local computer network (link) to built a slightly modified version of stock computer unit. I hope that they will accept these changes and will give me a personal pricing. (hope that the guarantee for modified product will be for a whole computer - 3 years). I sadly do not have the knowledge of modern hardware and time to build it by myself (the product PC guarantee will also be for the whole PC, not for the parts of it).Intel Core i5-2500K 3,3G/6M;2 x DDR3 4GB 1333C9 Kingston BK;Gigabyte GA-PH67A-D3-B3 ATX;2GB Club3D HD6950 F PCI-E;500GB Seag SATA3 7200 16MB; (maybe 1.5TB WD SATA3 5400-72 64MB GP)DVDRW Sams S222AL LS SATA BLACKMD Chief BM-02B-OP;FAN 92x92 Xilence COO-XPF92.R;PSU 750W Chieftec CFT-750-14CS;Thank You all again,Heigo Edited February 28, 201214 yr by londonc Heigo Tomba
