February 3, 201214 yr Hy all,Flying the NGX with FSUIPC on FSX (w7 64bits) with ASE, it seems that ATC send me to the runway corresponding with the ATIS at destination. I think I am in DWC mode. Before departure last night, I saw the WXR at destination with wind 120/9 and +24 in temperature which allow me to land on RWY9. Arrived near destination, at FL120, when FSX ATC give me clearance, I am asked to process for RWY27... I then check the ATIS at destination which give 243/20 and -9... Switching to ASE WXR report, I saw quite the same data I have before the flight, but I undersatnd that the ATIS given during the flight is the ATIS at the current altitude and not the ATIS at the airport level!!!It results of me landing facing some aircraft which have tokeoff in the opoosite RWY.Is there a way to fix this? Thanks for help.Sylvain
February 3, 201214 yr Hi Sylvian,Around the 70 mile away from destination open AS2012 and hit the AI refresh button and see if that helps! I use RC 4.3 and use the Atis associated with that program.I have also been known to ignore the ATIS and follow the weather details available at departure time but that is rare! Norman Bowman
February 5, 201214 yr Damian had indicated that the fix before last should have alleviated this by forcing the departure weather further before the destination, but I have found also that problem still exists. Refreshing AI only works in STANDARD but not in DWC. The only way is to switch over to STANDARD mode before you are close enough to get runway assignment from ATC. It involves changing OPTIONS and then reloading AS2012 before returning to your "paused" flight. I use full screen mode but exit through the Weather menu and have no problems ALT-TAB to desktop and then ALT-TAB back to wx menu and selecting CANCEL. This returns me to the flight with same weather conditions as were set by DWC but now it will update weather along the way and correctly READ the destination weather. One day someone hopefully will produce a realistic weather engine that will not require all these contrived work-arounds(?)!
February 8, 201214 yr Author Hy all,Thanks for the tips. Will try with Standard mode rather than DWC.I also check "force wind lock" and another one I don't recall it.I have not been able to test it because of CTD or freeze of the NGX at departure (but this is another problem...)Happy landingsSylvain Vaudescal
