February 5, 201214 yr Hi;I've noticed that some of the runways I am using (default FSX - not add on airports) do not have working PAPI lights. They seem to always read yellow for too high. This said, some runways do work OK.I'm also running REX 2 textures.Does anyone have any ideas?Do you have to set up for ILS for the PAPI lights to work ?Thank you, Iain Edited February 5, 201214 yr by Iain Williams WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
February 5, 201214 yr If you are flying Australia, you will see T-VASI lights a lot. They don't involve any other colours. However, which airport shows the signs you are speaking of?
February 5, 201214 yr Author Hi - Thank you for your replies.I should have been more descriptive as the issue I am referring isin Australia - T-VASI lights. The airport in question is HOBART YMHB.The lights never seem to alter - they always remain white.I rarely use FTX ATC, but do use ILS - so am wondering if the non use of ATC is the reason the lights never alter. February 5, 201214 yr Moderator No, they are all visual aids to landing and have absolutely nothing to do with ILS at all. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
February 5, 201214 yr I should have been more descriptive as the issue I am referring isin Australia - T-VASI lights. The airport in question is HOBART YMHB.Right you are, it's clearer now. Hobart runs a T-VASI setup, so you only have one colour to look at unless you come in way too low. Catch some details in this pdf if you like. http://www.flightglo...20-%200932.htmlHere's some more, especially on the usage. http://www.airwaysmu...ots%20Notes.htmNow with the FSX lights you may run into another problem, sort of spoiling the precise approach determination. That's the way the different lights are showing up and allow a judgement on your relation to the intended path. It could be that, from a certain distance, the all show up as one large spot and don't allow for a clear view on the fact if they are telling you 'too high', 'too low' and so on. That's a thing another light file and some fsx.cfg tweaks may be able reduce. Edited February 5, 201214 yr by CoolP

That's a thing another light file and some fsx.cfg tweaks may be able reduce. Thanks for the file and otrher information. I didn't know that the lights remained the same colour unless too low.I'll do a search on AVSIM for the file you mentioned to rectify the issue of lighting at other airports.I'm not sure if REX 2 will resolve this issue or not - I think it may do by light replacement (need to check the manual).Thank you again, Iain WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
