3rd Party Devs and Flight.

FSX addons is a vibrant but fairly small niche market, if Flight goes 'mainstream gamer' (not saying that it will btw), then there'd be serious money to be made.
Flight is more niche currently. And FSX add-ons would be doing well if FSX would still be supported and expanded by MS.All of it stands or falls with MS support or lack of it.... AND the support of the customers. No sales, no market to sell to.

The only thing I can tell at the moment, is there is but a single pipeline for additional content...and that is Microsoft. WIth all the posts I've seen about 3rd party developer NOT supporting FLIGHT, its because there is no path to the consumer, except via that single pipeline. I don't know this for certain, its just speculation on my part from what I have seen. I wouldn't put away my FSX and all the addons just yet. :-) I think THAT market/product (FSX) will continue to live on for quite some time.

Yeah, that's my biggest beef with my iphone/ipad. Oh wait, no, that's why I like it so much. :)The third party stuff is coming. We have plenty to play with on Feb 29th and there will be a steady stream of additional content to keep us entertained as Flight evolves. It's not time for a PMDG 737. . .

@Rush1169; are you a beta tester?

Single pipeline is actually fine for the developer - as mentioned, App Store. It's bad for other publishers/online sellers (so I can understand why Aerosoft for example is not keen on Flight).

I think the sole developer for FLIGHT at the moment is/will be Microsoft and no others I'm afraid.

What about all the things you have to do/invest to get to that point?

Well, if you're an app writer for the Apple ecosystem then apart from having to put up with some quality comtrol it's not too bad - apple handles the sales and distribution. More importantly, the app store exposes your work to millions. If Flight does get the millions of punters they expect that's a lot of potential dollars out there. As for microsoft only - sounds right for launch. Still hoping though that i'll find out others signed on when feb 29th comes around (someone? Anyone?) or that the door is still open to do so in the future.Interesting that in this thread there's not even a solid hint that any 3pd are gearing up for flight DLC - and to me that's not a promising sign.
