February 9, 201214 yr If there are any other Shuttle fans out there, Roger Boisjoly has passed on. For those who don't know the name, he was an engineer for Morton-Thiokol, who were the contractors for the Solid Rocket Boosters. He noticed on post-flight analysises of several missions prior to Challenger that the SRB O-rings were coming dangerously close to failing. With dire consequences, Thiokol basically ignored him. They did set up a task force, but without any authority or support from leadership. He also voiced concern about the low temps the night before 51-L. A moment of silence for a man who put safety first, when almost no one else did that day. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dana Palmer KJAC
