Odd FPS Limiter Behaviour

Featured Replies

Hello,I have the FPS limiter that uses that GUI thing and searches for the .exe of the game and you set your FPS, you know the drill. Well anyway evem though I have my FPS set to 35 it seems to be maxing the FPS out like the limiter is not existent. Cant move it up or down with F11 or F12 at all, any ideas?

Use the limiter now built into the nVidia drivers instead of an external limiter. It's enabled by turning it on in nvidiainspector.

I have tried it and that is also useless, it stays around the set limit but varies +-10.

There's no batch file, and it would seem +/-10 is better than what you have now. ;) -10 means you're PC isn't keeping up. That's not the frame limiter's fault. +10 with the Nvidia driver's limiter seems unrealistic to me. I believe you're seeing it fluctuate slightly past your set limit for just a second every once in a while, but I doubt it's not keeping your frames limited. It will surely do a better job than the old school batch file you're using.

Don't measure with the built in FSX limiter. Use FRAPS to measure FPS. I noticed it's going to keep it's set value.

Well considering without the limiter it is around 80FPS, and I have it set at 35, it shouldn't be going down the the twenties as a result of hardware issues. Its mainly a visual thing, not just me starring at the counter too see any fluctuations. it will go from smooth down to twenties and slow. I have used this limiter before and it has worked fine, no problem. I create the limiter .bat then create a shortcut to the desktop, exactly the same as before.
