Advice on 37" LCD

Featured Replies

I am still researching 'stuff' for my new sim build and have decided to stick with a single monitor rather than go down the road of multiple displays. I have been considering for some time a Dell Ultrasharp 30" display but have been listening with interest to guys around here regrading a 32-37" LCD. My dilemma is that while I would love a 37" LCD monitor I can't help thinking that the quality will simply not be up to scratch when compared to my 24" HP which, to be frank, is superb. Can someone please offer some comfort before I spend a load of dosh and discover that the picture simply doesn't do it for me. The issue I have is that I fail to see how I cannot be anything other than disappointed with a 37" screen that has the same resolution as my 24" ie 1920x1200 or to be correct 1920 x 1080. Why is there no monitor available above 30" with higher resolution... I don't get it. Or am I simply being oversensitive. Has anyone moved up to a bigger screen and been disappointed with the clarity and shimmer etc. Also, if I am convinced, can anyone suggest a 37" monitor that is the dog's bollocks? Thanks fellas.

The Dell 30inch Ultrasharp is the sharpest display I have ever seen. I saw it a few times at Microcenter (PC Hardware Store) and was blown out of the water. Although, the price tag seems a bit steep for me to even consider it. But, if you are willing to shell out some cash, go for it!

To me a large-sized monitor is only justified if it increases the total ixel count. If the pixel count is the same, a large monitor is just an expensive way of rendering what you can also render with a smaller and cheaper monitor closer in. (In mathematical terms what counts is the the angle subtended in the eye by each pixel).Cheers,- jahman.
