February 17, 201214 yr Dear All,When flying in the VC, camera at the pilot head position or so, and in order to have a view wide enough to include part of the windscreen, the main panel, the whole MCP, and the center upper DU, I have to set the zoom level (as displayed in red in screen upper right corner) to around 0.5 zoom. This is done by mouse wheel in conjunction with space bar.The 0.5 zoom is wide enough, but makes graphics not sharp as they were designed, and it becomes a bit difficult to read numbers and move knobs and buttons near each other, let go using the FMC. I thought this problem would become less sensible if I hook up my 35" LCD via the HDMI. But this didn't happen. Still I can see that graphics are way better when zoom level set to 1.0 zoom, as things look actually as PMDG designed them to be.I thought in order to have the wide view, same time with zoom set to 1.0, I have to increase my screen resolution. This wasn't possible because I was already working on the maximum screen resolution allowed in my menu, 1366 x 768.So, if we have a graphic expert here, or someone from support staff, I have the following questions:1. What is the screen resolution PMDG was built on?2. Increasing the maximum screen resolution can be achieved only by hooking a bigger capable monitor, or I have to install a more capable graphics card as well? Thanks.
February 17, 201214 yr Make sure you have your Detail Radius set to high on your FSX settings. That's the only software advice I can think of. Maybe others can pitch in. February 17, 201214 yr 1366x768 is the standard native resolution of 32-35ish inch televisions out there that are 720p native. If you are intested in utilizing a 30-ish inch television as your display monitor, something that can show 1080p, or a native resolution of 1920×1080.Otherwise most standard 20-22 inch computer monitors out there at a minimum can support 1920×1080. February 17, 201214 yr Author So I don't need to change my graphics card to be able to use the 1920 x 1080 monitors? I mean this resolution setting will appear automatically in my resolution menu when I hook up the large monitor in the HDMI port?
February 17, 201214 yr Have you tried to change the wide view aspect to true in your FSX config? It will give you the wider view at a higher zoom you are looking for. For me, that is the only entry I changed in my config other than the highmem stuff. William Sequeira
February 18, 201214 yr Have you tried to change the wide view aspect to true in your FSX config?+1.I have zoom set to 0.85 and can see all the captain side displays as far right as to include the gear handle. This allows me to manipulate everything on the MCP except the F/O side specific controls. My monitor is 1920x1080 and I use EZDok camera tool from Flight1 to move around and position things. Think I might have also moved the viewpoint a little further right as I tend to lean that way in a seat anyway. Greg Barber VeeOz Virtual VATPAC
February 18, 201214 yr Also, I keep mine a .70, as my FSDT airports and such are made pretty much from that zoom. The developers, not sure how they came up with it, said that is the most realistic zoom for a persons head.TrackIR has made my life soooooo much easier than it used to be, but before I had it, .70 zoom and wideviewaspect=true showed great detail on the NGX for me. February 18, 201214 yr Back to the original question, there is no problem for any recent graphics card to display anything up to 2560x1440 on one display. On more displays even more is possible. So you basically need new display in order to achieve higher resolution. February 18, 201214 yr He does not need to buy another display to fix His issue. He already stated He can see all the detail fine, but wanted a wider view. The wide view aspect would help Him out on His need, for free. William Sequeira
