I've had this aircraft in my Hangar for a long time since I bought it ages ago, but have only just got around to wanting to fly it.Followed the main PMDG tutorial to the letter alongside a occasional reference to a supplementary tutorial in Computer Pilot. But when I get to starting the left engine, it takes ages before the Engine Start selector switch moves to AIR, which it should do according to the CP tutorial, and when selecting Left Gen, the Gen light does not extinguish. Then after a while the left engine just shuts down. Similar scenario with the right engine. And when I try to re-start either the L or R engine, the Start Switch flicks back to AIR almost instantly. The EGT is below 700. So, question is, what am I doing wrong?Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Hmm you're props are not on the locks i'd think. The sim will make the shut down sound even if the engine can't reach operating RPM.What's the maximum RPM your engine spools up to? Do you have the fuel pumps on? Won't light without the boost pumps operating.Bring your condition levers to TAXIPower Levers in reverse...just hold F2 for a sec.At the bottom of the throttle quadrant, left and right click the Unfeather Switch. This will run a pump which will drive oil into the propeller hub, forcing them to a Fine position.Go to external view and watch the props go into fine position.Press F1, this puts your power levers back to Flight Idle.Try the start up procedure again. Make sure your EGT is below 200-ish before attempting a start.

Hi Houghton11Thanks for your response. Will check what you have suggested and come back with a feedback.

Hi Houghton11Just wanted to update you that I once more followed everything in the PMDG Tutorial up to the point where I was about to start the Left Engine, when I followed your tips above, and Voila!, everything worked a cinch. Thanks once more.

@ Houghton11Any idea why I'm not hearing any Call-Outs whatsoever such as when I pull the power levers back, etc?

Rick Almeida

I lost my callouts when I installed FS2Crew...so I either fly without callouts alone, or fly with callouts with FS2Crew...not sure if you have this program also....but that is how it happened to me.

Thanks for that HU. Yes, indeed, I do have FS2Crew Voice Commander installed. So that explains that.
