February 22, 201214 yr Hi,I read somewhere that using a high VRAM card cuts away at VAS.So, if I go and buy a 2GB video card, will this mean that my 4GB of available VAS will be cut to 2GB?4GB of VAS-2GB of VRAM=2GB of VAS
February 22, 201214 yr using a high VRAM card cuts away at VASYes, but not by the whole amount of the VRAM: Only a small window of VRAM is mapped into VAS. I have no idea what the size of that window is (the question has always been asked when VAS vs. VRAM threads appeared but alas, nwas never answered.)Of course using 2 cards in Crossfire/SLI will automatically double the size of that window.Cheers,- jahman.

I have now a 512MB HD5450 installed while my 1.5GB GTX480 is being fixed and the VAS usage is pretty much the same. There's plenty of people with 3GB cards running FSX happily. No way FSX could load in just 1GB of address space, so the "4GB - VRAM size" formula simply can't be right, not even close
February 22, 201214 yr Author So if I purchase a 2GB Vram card, I should run into no problems right? I have never gotten an OOM with my current setup. I don't use crazy settings or high LOD radius.
February 22, 201214 yr VAS is Virtual Address Space, a total of 2^32 = 4 GBy that a 32-bit program like FSX can use.VRAM is Video RAM, i.e. the RAM on your video card.Cheers,- jahman.
