I'd go with the XFX 6790 out of those 4; however, if you're interested, I am currently selling my 6870 for under your budget. I'm currently flying the NGX around ORBX scenery at a smooth 30+ FPS. I can upload screenshots of my latest flight or anywhere you'd like to see if it helps you.

AMD cards are awful performers in FSX. I just sold my 5870 for this reason. Frames in the clouds dropped down into 10-12 range....

That's funny, mine works great. I am more of an Nvidia fan in general, but using the Shader 3 mod and the FXAA post processor has been a phenomenal graphical experience the last few months. Much better than the 8800GTX I had before, to be honest.

With my 5870 AND SM3, I could not find any set of AA settings etc that gave me marginal performance. My single GTS450 blows it away in FSX performance.

Well, with the PSU you have, you won't get very far.I'd recommend upgrading your PSU to something like THIS for running a single graphics card. For a GPU, I'd would go for a GTX560. THIS is a good one and will run FSX much faster than what you currently have.

I wish you had listened to me. AMD cards don't perform well. And why didn't you wait for the new 7XXX series??????

it's too new, i would like to wait a little more and see the behavior in the market

please use bojote shadermod for ati cards and then you will notice a difference.

ATI for FSX Rolling%20Eyes.gif

right now with this HD resolution i get 13-15 fps in VC cockpit with the PMDG 737 NGX and in flight may not vary the same with the 747 and MD-11

i want to get whith this resolution at least 30 fps in VC cockpit and 50-60 ourside..

You'll need much more muscle than only that poor ATI card. In the FSXMark11 benchmark you will see RyanF running HD6990, which is faster, and need way higher CPU overclocks to get the FSX to the point where others have it with lower OC. And that is with an Intel...

The closest you can get to those wished 30fps in the VC, you will need a really strong CPU, talking 2700K, IB etc, and a strong Nvidia card. IMO, you blew the money out of the window, so far FSX is concerned.

GTX 560ti would have been a better solution, but you'll still be needing a CPU change to reach the above.

Maybe reading my hardware guide (sig) would give you some ideas what you need for FSX and NGX.

EDIT: And all that put together, I still get 18fps in the VC of the NGX on high settings at UK2000 Heathrow. Talking about the heavy load.
