March 15, 200422 yr I am curiuos as to how much you guys fly? My average interval between flights is usually every other day, however when I get into a flying mood I fly every day, as often as I can. My average flight length is about 2 hrs, with the min being 45 min, and the max being 3 hrs.How about you guys?
March 15, 200422 yr That's an interesting question. I been flyinf FS since the first PC version. In the early days I flew daily as I tried to discover what was "out there". I sit with hours with a map on my knee and see what, if anything, I could recognize or follow. As the sim grew I would then spend hours downloading every new scenery and fly it to see what magical things the author had produced. Then around FS4 or so I noticed I was gradually flying less and less. So I joined a VA, can you guess which one? This gave me a structured reason to be in the air, to be flight planning, and to be flying different aircraft. It also opened the world in a more meaningful way. I managed to get around 1500 great hours in, much of it on-line.Then I would go for long flights and fly them real time, actually the only way I've ever flown including numerous round-the-world trips. Sadly that time ended when I had a rather severe accident resulting in head damage. This has curtailed my flying for a few years but now I'm slowly getting back including resuming my flying on-line with Vatsim if I can get this flippin SquawkBox to stop crashing on start up.Ok OK time to stop rambling.regardsbf>I am curiuos as to how much you guys fly? March 15, 200422 yr It depends. FS is something I never get tired of, but when I get a new game I tend to take a break from FS until I get bored with it.I downloaded the demo for Hidden & Dangerous 2 a couple of weeks ago, liked it, and found the game at EB for $20. I bought it, and haven't flown in almost a week. I preordered Battlefield Vietnam, which should be in tomorow, so it may be a while before I get back to flightsim.
March 15, 200422 yr Well, with my hectic work schedule I usually fly Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
March 15, 200422 yr Pretty much every day. I work evenings and when I come home from work my wife and children are asleep and I'm not ready for bed. I fire up FS and spend maybe an hour or more zooming around. Then there's the forums, the downloads, the tweaking....I'm sometimes pretty tired in the morning.I keep wondering when I'll get tired of flightsimming, but it hasn't happened yet.I have 210 hours logged on FS2002 and FS9 since FS9 was released last July.BlairCYOW
March 15, 200422 yr Most days - usually a one or two hour flight- always online(VATSIM).As a change I just finished a non-stop Round the world in the Rutan Voyager(140hrs in total) but that was exceptional - I find that normally an hour or so is all I have time for.Dave
March 15, 200422 yr Hi Fred, :)I fly several hours every other day. Sometimes less often, sometimes every day! Then like Blair said, there's the downloading, tweaking, forums...Cheerio,Jim
March 15, 200422 yr Good question...I try to fly most every day, some days 2 or 3 shorter hops (1 hr or less). Don
March 15, 200422 yr One other thing: I didn't include the amount of time I spend thinking about flight simming, reliving that "perfect" approach, thinking of new places to fly, watching a plane overhead and thinking, 'Hey, that guy's flying an Archer just like mine.'Add that in and my time goes up to about 22 hours a day, :-lolBlairCYOW
