March 4, 201214 yr HelloWhen flying a VOR approach to a particular runway, after capturing the VOR radial (VOR/LOC mode active) and following the VNAV path, I engage APP mode on the MCP and the FMA shows FAC mode active on the PFD. What does FAC mode stand for and how does it manage my lateral navigation? My pitch mode also changes to GA when FAC is active. Is there a standard procedure to follow when conducting a non-precision approach? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.John John Pipilas Win 10 - i7 2600k CPU - AMD Radeon R9 Fury X GPU
March 4, 201214 yr FAC stands for Final Approach Course, it is a mode for Integrated Approach Navigation, basically a system that lets you fly a non-precision approach the same way, with the same indications, as an ILS approach. Only it uses FAC iso LOC and G/P iso G/S. --Peter Fabian
