March 8, 201214 yr Also in Flight (as in FSX) i see the issue of suddenly appearing trees (called popping?) when flying above Hawaii.I think i run a very powerful system. ( CPU I7 860 - 2.80 Ghz / Graphics card GTX 560TI / 6 Gb DRAM )Is there a certain setting necessary in the Nvidia Control Panel or with the Nvidia Inspector. Now I use the 295.73 WHQL driver. My question: how to eliminate that called issue, if possible?Ton
March 8, 201214 yr Hi Ton,While you have a fairly decent video card, your cpu is not running at what I would consider very powerful. I don't know if overclocking is even an option for you, but a cpu running around 4ghz+ combined with a good video card, will yield much better results.I cannot say I have seen any suddenly appearing trees in Flight - if there have been, I surely have not noticed it - and I am running with all graphics maxed out. But I do run an I7 920 cpu at 4.1 ghz, with a GTX 460 SSC 1gb video card.I have done no tweaking at all in the Nvidia control panel or with Inspector, I am letting Flight handle all those things. You did not mention how you have your graphics set, have you tried lowering any of them to see if that makes for an improvement? March 8, 201214 yr I have an i5 2500K @ 4.5 and a GTX 580 and I also see trees popping up. I suppose some people notice it and others don't. It's not as bad as in FSX in general, but there IS popping up and sometimes pretty bad too. I am using Scenery density at High now because this eliminates the outer ring/LOD of autogen, which 1. is easier on the system, 2. there simply are a lot less trees that can pop up, and 2. it should prevent popping up anyway because there is something wrong with the Maximum settings (according to someone who works on MS Flight). BTW I also have shadows at High. All other settings are at the highest possible. The odd thing is that I never see houses popping up. Maybe because they blend better in the ground textures. Or maybe they do have alpha blending unlike the trees.
March 8, 201214 yr It is certainly the same issue as in FS X and previously, but I would not call it a bug. These are performance-enhancing techniques and the developers have tried many different variations to find the best compromise. There is no perfect solution, but as long as it is not excessively distracting, then it is just something we have to accept until hardware can handle the load.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
March 8, 201214 yr At least it is a lot less worse in Flight compared to FSX. The "autogen popping" is just how the graphic engine works and is to be considered "normal". Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
March 8, 201214 yr At least it is a lot less worse in Flight compared to FSX. The "autogen popping" is just how the graphic engine works and is to be considered "normal".Apparently, for I really notice it in FSX - and as mentioned, do not really notice it in Flight. The Flight team seems to have done a really good job of improving this aspect of the simulator. Don B
March 8, 201214 yr As this was brought up with trees appearing in bunches I decided to watch mine. I run a 6870 video card 8gb corsair Intel i7 @3.40 and I run on max detail and my trees pop up randomly a couple at a time. Never in bunches or suddenly.
March 8, 201214 yr Author Thanks everyone!I understand, the problem is known, but not to eliminate through certain settings in the Control Panel or the Nvidia Inspector.
