March 9, 201214 yr While flying KSEA to KLAS (FSBuild created flight, no SID, STAR data), VoxATC had correctly assigned the arrival (sunset2) and later runway (25L). Then when I was about half way through the arrival Vox ATC vectored me off the arrival it had already assigned me to some new obscure arrival, it appeared the airplane was in position to just turn East to execute the new arrival. This took me too close to testing the paint on top of a mountain. The arrival and approach did work but I suspect the controller would be looking for a new job. it seemed to be sort of like the closest distance to two points approach not really how it would be done, based on terrain and accepted arrivals and approaches.Navigraph 1202 cycle, VoxATC indexing, Runway number allignment etc.. up to speed5% Vox generated traffic (only)Clear weather conditions, daytimeAll service patches, updates to all programsI have repeated this several times and have had the same results. Is this a fault in the VoxATC program itself ??? or some airport information that needs to be updated ??How come I would be assigned an approach and then just willy-nilly be sent off to some other path that didn't seem to be safe or even on the approach charts. Thanks in advanceMark Mark Zanzig
March 9, 201214 yr Mark, Even if you are assigned a STAR by center, when you contact approach control, you will be given vectors from that point. If you want to continue and fly the full STAR, ignore the heading instructions you were just given and request a full ils approach for the runway you've been assigned. I forget the exact verbage but I believe it is in the manual. If I misunderstood your question my apologies.
March 9, 201214 yr Through the options (press 0) you can select 'full procedure' or words to the equivalent. This should prevent what you're seeing. From a programming point of view it is difficult for VoxATC to 'know' when vectors aren't appropriate and a full procedure is required.Try this and hopefully you'll have more success. I too have found this issue a times.Chris
March 10, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the information, I will try again tonight. It does sound like you were able to figure out what I was seeing. Will keep you posted. Thanks,Mark Mark Zanzig
