Cannot simconnect with new router

Featured Replies

I have operated ASE and SquwakBox with a two computer setup using SimConnect for some time. My modem and router have just now been upgraded and, while the computers are connected as usual, SimConnect won't connect (AI Traffic sample is dead). I can't remember what if anything I need to do with respect to the modem that would fix the problem and would very much appreciate any assistance anyone might be able to give me.Peter.

Maybe you are using a different IP address now?

Thanks indeed for your response. I do have a new address for the router but I am not sure what difference that should make or for that matter what to do about it. It has been a long time since I paired my computers with Simconnect and I am having trouble remembering how it all goes together.Peter

I think that is your porblem. You need to change the ip address in the Simconnect xml on the server machine and the simconnect config on the client. That should get you up and running again. WOW, I never thought I would be able to offer support on SimConnect. Now if I can only get my Charlie Foxtrot bag of simconnect issues straight. You can go here for more informationhttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526983.aspx

Thanks indeed. I will work at it when I get a little time and let you know.

I am afraid this has gotten beyond me. I have a server (FS box) static IP address in the XML file that I can't seem to change and the router address does not appear in either the XML or config file. I have looked at the web page and reworked my way through the Squawkbox instalation guide for simconnect but, if I ever was, I am not now sufficiently computer savy to follow it. I am wondering how I ever managed to configure simconnect and get it working as I once did. I am going to have to get some technical assistance to get back into the game. But thanks very much for the suggestions.Peter.

Simple question: has the IP address of either computer changed since you changed your hardware??

Best regards,

Robin.

Yes. As far as I can tell the IP address on the FS box that was static changed after the new router was installed. I have with the assistance of Active Sky support reconfigured things so I am now running. I created a new IP address and reworked sharing. It took some talking to my internet service provider but I am once again well simcommencted.

Peter.
