  1. Yes. As far as I can tell the IP address on the FS box that was static changed after the new router was installed. I have with the assistance of Active Sky support reconfigured things so I am now running. I created a new IP address and reworked sharing. It took some talking to my internet service provider but I am once again well simcommencted. Peter.
  2. I have run ASE since it was released on a two computer set up and I now want to upgrade to 2012 but simconnect has failed with my internet supplier replacing my router with a higher speed combination modem and router. The Traffic AI will not connect. Before upgrading I would like to know if there is something simple required to get me going like opening a port or ports or changing an IP address. Any help will be much appreciated.
  3. I am afraid this has gotten beyond me. I have a server (FS box) static IP address in the XML file that I can't seem to change and the router address does not appear in either the XML or config file. I have looked at the web page and reworked my way through the Squawkbox instalation guide for simconnect but, if I ever was, I am not now sufficiently computer savy to follow it. I am wondering how I ever managed to configure simconnect and get it working as I once did. I am going to have to get some technical assistance to get back into the game. But thanks very much for the suggestions.Peter.
  4. Thanks indeed. I will work at it when I get a little time and let you know.
  5. Thanks indeed for your response. I do have a new address for the router but I am not sure what difference that should make or for that matter what to do about it. It has been a long time since I paired my computers with Simconnect and I am having trouble remembering how it all goes together.Peter
  6. Thanks very much. Just what I was looking for. Peter.
  7. I am looking to replace my tired rudder pedals to fly the ngx and would like to know if anyone has any experience using these pedals made by dhs Electorinic with this or a similar plane. They are more expensive than the Saitek Pro Flight pedals and I wondering if they are worth the price difference.Peter Lowry
  8. I have operated ASE and SquwakBox with a two computer setup using SimConnect for some time. My modem and router have just now been upgraded and, while the computers are connected as usual, SimConnect won't connect (AI Traffic sample is dead). I can't remember what if anything I need to do with respect to the modem that would fix the problem and would very much appreciate any assistance anyone might be able to give me.Peter.
  9. Any chance of a Sunwing livery - bright orange tail. It is a Canadian carrier operating a 738 fleet of more than 20 aircraft to the Caribbean. Peter
  10. Thanks again. I use Active Sky (Evolution) which has its own wind smoothing and some instruction on how to address weather problems for more sensitive aircraft like the MD-11, but that does not seem to overcome the instability in my power settings. I will try your FSUIPC settings and see what happens. Peter.
  11. Thanks for your comment Dan. I have all turbulence turned off and I have tried to fix things with FSUIPC smoothing. Perhaps I just have to work with it some more. Any suggestions about the setting for wind smoothing might be helpful. Peter.
  12. When the airplane is flying at a cruising altitude with the autothrottle engaged I find the power settings are frequently unstable. For a period of some minutes all three N1 values range up and down together by as much as 10% if not somewhat more. The N2 and fuel consumption values follow as do the graphically displayed throttles. Much of the time the power is quite solid (N1 of 90% with the GE engines and 79% with the PW engines), but then for some reason it becomes unstable. It appears to occur only when the autothrottle is engaged. I would appreciate knowing whether this is a common problem and, if so, whether there is a fix. Peter Lowry.
  13. Does the MD11 do this as well? I was contemplating buying it but if it bounces around too I guess I'll just have to stick with my 767. That or go back to FS9 BryanFrom my experience with the Md-11 over many months there is no bounce but the N1 reading goes through periods during cruise when it fluctuates (75 - 85%). Graphically the throttles move back and forth and the fuel flow is correspondingly up and down. It realy would be nice to get it fixed. Peter.
  14. Well that is comforting good news. Many thanks. Peter.
  15. I have too have been flying the excellent NG (as well as the MD-11) and looking forward to the NGX for some time. I am, however, disappointed to find no 2D view for the JS41. Having always used only that view, I am concerned this may be signalling the end of 2D for PMDG. Like me I am sure there are others who would welcome any indication that can be given now as to whether a 2D view will be a feature of the NGX which otherwise I have no doubt will be more than worth the wait for its release. Peter Lowry
  16. I think you will find your autobrakes will now be armed on some setting all the time so the cockpit switch is not functioning. I solved my problem by calibrating the brakes in FSX (not FSUIPC) and creating a substantial null zone - at least one third of the slider. Since doing that, they have worked fine every time. Peter.
  17. They work! - finally. I disabled the brake calibration in FUSIPC and set a significant null zone with the FSX calibration sliders. I set the sensitivity slider at two-thirds and the null zone slider one third to the right. The autobrakes engaged twice on rejected takeoffs and four out of four times on landing, stopping the airplane in the table distance. The ABS Disarm did not illuminate until the toebrakes were applied. Many thanks indeed. I appear to be fixed. Peter.
  18. Many thanks for the comments. I have done all I can figure to do with FSUIPC. The brakes are calibrated with a significant null zone. I have tried enabling and disabling the filter. Disconnecting the pedals makes no difference. MMMM....Peter.
  19. My autobrake will not work. Over some weeks, I have posted here and e-mailed PMDG support, but have received no response. I have read what I have been able to find searching this forum and tried various suggestions offered to no avail. The toebrakes work fine. Setting the autobrake at T.O. has no effect on a rejected takeoff. When landing, with the autobrake armed, the ABS Disarm illuminates immediately on touchdown (with no toebrake applied - and even with pedals disconnected - and F1 pressed at Retard) and there is no braking effect. I am able to make the autobrake work fine by changing "autobrake=0" to "1" in the Aircraft cfg file. But then the autobrake appears to be always armed at some unknown setting so the selection switch is of no effect. I run the MD-11 for FSX with the latest update on a Vista 64 bit system using CH pedals and throttle. The autobrake is the only problem I have with this excellent simulation. If anyone can suggest what I might do before giving up, I would much appreciate it. Peter Lowry
  20. I have found F.O.C. but cannot find the FSC you mention. Can you help me? I am looking for operations planning that will calculate MD-11 fuel. Peter.
  21. Thanks for you comment Paul. Unfortunately I have received no other response so I don't know where to go from here. I have tried re-installing with the current update to no avail. From what I have read as recently as last week the problems only affects a few people. Unhappily I appear to be one of them. Peter.
  22. These problems were raised here on April 5th. I would much like to know if there is a solution to either.I fly the updated FSX version with CH pedals calibrated only with FS - not FSUIPC. The autobrake does not seem to work in any setting. Typically, with the spoilers deployed and the reversers running at 50% N1, I nose off the end of a 7500 foot runway as the F.O. calls out 80 knots. I can avoid that only by standing on the toe brakes. I find the glide slope is captured much of the time, but it is not reliable. Every few landings I intercept the localizer just fine and the F.O. announces the G/S is alive, but then I fly right through it as it moves from top to bottom. I am in the result becoming altogether much too proficient at missed approaches. Peter Lowry
  23. For the past couple of months I have been struggling with irratic winds aloft direction and speed. If I select anything other than Fair WX or Clear Skies from the FSX Wx Options (or any online WX with FS or Active Sky), I have what has become a continuous and constant two degree and two knot irratic fluctuation that causes the airspeed to jump up and down by two knots and the power to respond if the autopilot is engaged. Ultimately the autopilot struggles to hold the altitude. With Fair Wx or Clear Skies selected the direction and speed are steady as are the power settings and the altitude.I am flying the PMDG MD-11 but I find the problem persists with the default aircraft.I have tired first repairing and then uninstalling and reinstalling FSX and the MD-11 all to no avail. My system is Q/Core 2.4 with 8800 GTS. I would really appreciate any help anyone can give me to fix things. Peter.
  24. I am not sure what the PMDG S-turn problem is but wonder if SP1 will overcome the irratic wind speed that for me occurs often with the MD-11, so much so I have had to resort to using FS weather. I had the same problem running ASA with the Flight One Mustang. The wind speed fluctuates a few mph and that causes the IAS to be unstable generally messing things up. I have experienced it perhaps as much as half the time in a 90 minute flight. Peter.
  25. I wish to upgrade my monitor to take advantage of the widescreen configuration available for the PMDG MD-11 2D panel. I would apprciate any advice on what sizes work well at what resolution, and what downside in performance or otherwie there may be. With FSX - Vista 32 I run a two monitor FS system (QX 6600 2.4 GHz - 8800 GTS): 21 inch Samsung for the main panel and a 19 inch Acer to display the console and MCDU pop up windows (both run at 1280 X 1024). I am considering a Samsung 30 inch widescreen with a resolution of 2560 X 1600. I have room for the 32 inch but the resolution is much less (1366 X 768) which may be cause for concern. I don't know. I would like to know whether those with some experiene using a widesreen configuration consider one or other of these monitors would work well or whether I should be considering other alternatives. In short, how best can I maximize the widescreen feature for the 2D panel of this airplane in particlar? Peter.
