A few quick questions...

Featured Replies

I am planning on purchasing this program but I had a few things I wanted to understand better first (I read the online manual and I'm still a little confused on these points).1.) I just purchased a microphone w/ a plug in jack a week ago - how much of a problem is it going to be getting that to work with FS2Crew? (the manual says "USB Mics preferred"2.) I currently use Game Commander 2.0 for voice recognition, will FS2Crew work with Game Commander or is my MS Speech recognition the only option?3.) The various windows, like the main window, the briefing windows, etc, those are not visible all the time right? In other words I would only need to open those windows while using them to set things up? 4.) Do I have the option to have all First Officer comms come through my speaker ? I don't use a headset, I have a headmounted microphone but no headset, all sounds come through the speaker, just wonderign if this will be an issue. Thanks for taking your time to answer these questions. Looking forward to enjoying this program...Richard

Hi Richard,I just installed fs2crew for NGX and haven't tried it yet. My answers below are based on using all the other fs2crew packages including the iFly 737 version which should be pretty close to the NGX version...Re 1. I have been using a "normal" microphone for a long time without any issues. I think the recommendation for the USB microphone really is for an USB headset because then you can have the sound from the co pilot in the headset, and the fsx sound in your speakers (since the USB headset has its own sound card). I am not using that feature, so just using a mic in the soundcard worked fine for me.Re 2. I think it wants to use the Microsoft speech recognition software built into windows. Re 3. You don't need to have the windows open unless you want to click in them. I normally keep the main status window open to see where I am in the preflight flow, but it doesn't have to be open as far as I know.Re 4. You can get all sound through your normal speaker. Thats the way I use it too.Hope this helps,Helge

Hi Helge - thanks for your answers, that is exactly what I was looking for. It all looks a little intimidating but, I just went through the manual again and the second time makes more sense.Richard
