RXP 530 on RealAir Turbine

Featured Replies

Hello captains,I recently try to do some RNAV approaches with default GPS, and RealAir Turbine. The problem is, default GPS just can't handle this kind of approaches. I haven't tried ILS, but probably it will not succeed on that as well. When I get IAF, all strange things happen, plane starts descending 2000fpm without a reason, even AP is not armed. I am considering to invest on Reality XP 530, but just need to hear some tips about it. It is quite expensive, and I want to buy it if it will satisfy my expectation. I am sure, there is FSX gurus here who use Reality XP 530 with RealAir Turbine. My expectation is to have a GPS that can manage to fly SID/STAR, RNAV/ILS approaches. Need some advice please..Thanks

I don't have the 530 - only their 430. It's essentially the same product... the 530 has a few more features like displaying the VOR radial you've tuned into and distance (example)I would HIGHLY recommend the 430 or 530. You can get a legal recent database (June 2011) by going to the simforums and doing some research. The RXP unit will fly RNAV approaches and will fly them coupled to the GP using WAAS (LPV approach on the chart), as will the autopilot. It will also do all the stuff you requested above.

Enlighten me. And here I've been using the original trainer database (circa 2007...)

Ewwww! How worthless lol! I would have stopped using the gauge if it weren't for the random updates.95% of my flying is on vatsim or Pilot Edge...

It's not - it's all automated. Simply run the turbine duke Config Panel, and select the RXP option, and it will add it to the plane.

Thanks Ryan. As you said, it was easy, I actually didn't do much, it recognize all addons, and set it up itself. But it doesn't look crisp in VC, graphicwise. Default GPS used to look better. Maybe I just didn't choose high visuals. I will read manual tonight, so will be ready for tomorrow. It has lots of different features than default GPS, really need to read manuals..Cheers

In the VC everything is pretty squished... it's the AA on the text that is the problem. It happens to me also with the F1 Mustang G1000. If you open the popup it should be configured to your native monitor resolution (or close to it) and will look better. What sort of AA are you running with your 560ti? I've got 8xSQ set for my 570 and it helps as opposed to 8xS.

I really need help ! This is third week, and I simply could not make a RNAV rwy 19 approach to YPLC. I thought it is default GPS, and bought Reality XP 530w, but I still have same issue. Autopilot will go crazy when I get IAF, either APP selected or not. Please someone can do same approach to same place using same route ? So I can figure out, what the problem is. Is that RealAir turbine autopilot ? or maybe something wrong with my scenery files. By the way, I use Orbx AU blue.Route is, YPAD - AD - YORKE - LEWIS - PLC........15nm left to PLC, I choose approach on gps for RNAV rwy 19, and IAF is PLCND.When I get PLCND, 3600feet altitude, then plane go crazy, descend 2000fpm, then climb 500fpm, then descend 4000fpm... :Hypnotized:For weather, using AS2012. and weather mostly good, no strong winds or whatsoever.2012-3-11_15-34-31-32.jpg

Update : I tried to make a RNAV approach to YPAD. Well exactly same thing happened. So I am just clueless what causing this. Why AP can't follow approach procedure..I suspect that GS thing on AP module, as I've no idea what it is.

For those who having siminlar issue, I found the answer. First of all, RNAV is a non-precision approach, so don't expect VNAV from your GPS. However, there is some more details, LNAV+V and LPV. These two will make you a RNAV approach with VNAV. But these don't apply all RNAV approaches. If approach chart says RNAV-Z, then you expect LPV around IF. You should press APR when you get around IF, and see LNAV+V or LPV in GPS left bottom corner. Most important thing, never press APR if you do not see LNAV+V and LPV in your GPS display.

Yah I wrote the part about LPV in the 2nd post... sometimes I forget to explain everything and just assume people know what that is argh...Also your RXP colors look really funky... my 430W does not look all washed out like that. You might want to adjust the contrast knob and brightness knob (see manual)

I found only one click spot for contrast. Can I also set brightness ?Ryan, now I've got another issue regarding LNAV+V approach. If I happen to play with V/S, before even locking localizer (pressing APR), AP will just follow V/S that I previously set. It will not follow Glideslope.Or, something else causing this, as I don't see GS in autopilot display when I press APR. Perhabs it doesn't lock. I actually managed to lock only once, and don't remember how it was. :(

Update : I figured out, it is something related to localizer. It doesn't lock like ILS. Its too sensitive and its almost impossible to lock. So I guess, best is avoid VNAV. However, how to solve LNAV issue...Because if I press ARP, it locks LNAV, but also start doing crazy descends and climbs.. :(
