March 12, 201214 yr This is a repost..... After d/ling the game and the two addons.....No 51....was happily flying around for a few days when I started having a problem.... I would drop out to a black screen and require a reboot to get back flying and then the same condition would raise its ugly head again.....So what the heck we'll just delete it and re d/l the game and everything should be great.....Yeah great! have d/l'd the game 5 times and after installing each time got an error message saying ' Flight will not start as I ve d/l'd a corrupt file and will now close.... So am stuck ( and of course out 40some bucks for the islands and the Maule) and can't get the game working again ....have written MS but by appearances that answer may be off in some kind of future. Anyone seen anything like this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
March 12, 201214 yr This may sound obvious but when is the last time you ran Windows update? ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD / 2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors
March 12, 201214 yr Yep, the only time I had that happen, an automatic update was coming in. It wasn't obvious until I got ready to shut down later. Seems that they would wait until you finished the session. By the way, I keep mine up to date. John Wingold
March 12, 201214 yr 5 times, burt? I downloaded the game at least 16 times now. but finally it is working, except some minor glitches. anyway, to help maybe a little bit: locate your download/temp folder for dlc, check your gfw application to find it if unknown. then download the base pack. when done, DO NOT click on install in the gfw application. Instead, go to your download/temp folder and extract the cab file to a safe place on your hdd; you may change the funny folder name with at least 30 characters to something like FLIGHT INSTALLER. Use winzip or 7zip to unzip, this is the first test: sometimes you get an error message here about damaged content or bad CRC. then you know you have to download again. but eventually you will have a working download which you can unzip easily.once unzipped you may go to that folder and run setup.exe from the content subfolder. which installs flight just fine. but make sure you use the very same destination as defined within the gfw application as otherwise the DLC will land in other places and won't be visible.anyway, I 'checked' the integrity of the download by unzipping the file manually. Keeping the unzipped files is a nice backup and you can even repair your flight installation - should you mess up something - by running the setup again, no need to download another 1.4gb. but yes, it can take some attempts to get a running = non-corrupt cab file. Did I mention that I downloaded the base pack at least 16 times :Big Grin: Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

You may use 'DAD' but betya I'm older and more computer illiterate than you...But thanks for the directions ...really appreciate all your suggestions.. Thanks all
March 12, 201214 yr You may use 'DAD' but betya I'm older and more computer illiterate than you...But thanks for the directions ...really appreciate all your suggestionsHaha. That DAD comes from old times when I ran the Dangerous Airports Database, quite some years ago now. Though it actually turns out that I am indeed daddy :-)Let me know which abbreviations are unclear and I will help out. March 12, 201214 yr Author HI Phil.... well I'm up to you now in d/ls at 16 and still haven't got a d/l without the corrupt file so think I'm just gonna say to hell with it and let MS have my 40 bucks.......after all they probably need it more than I.....Will give it a try once in awhile and see what happens but this is ridiculous....spent the whole day screwin around with no satisfactory results.....Tried to reconnect with MS but have doubts that will do any good....Aw well...............have fun flyin'....It was great while it lasted.Burt ([email protected])

I never accepted to buy a new router since I can download everything else perfectly. you may try to download from a different pc and save the installer there, maybe in the office or at a friend? March 13, 201214 yr Author HI Phil they could make it a lot easier if they would just indicate what file is corrupt instead of just dropping out....at least then one could get THAT file from someone else and replace it. But Oh no, not MS..... Havent quit yet just takin another swipe at it.....willl try to D/L the base from the wifes machine amd see what happens........never can tell:-)
March 13, 201214 yr easier if they would just indicate what file is corruptat least winzip tells you which file is corrupt when trying to unzip, unfortunately it is usually the only big file in the cab file with 1.2gb ;-). good luck!
