737 ngx and Simpedals

Featured Replies

I am looking to replace my tired rudder pedals to fly the ngx and would like to know if anyone has any experience using these pedals made by dhs Electorinic with this or a similar plane. They are more expensive than the Saitek Pro Flight pedals and I wondering if they are worth the price difference.Peter Lowry

Well, I have them since Christmas. Unfortunately I have never owned other rudder-pedals before, so I can't compare.Quick review:Positive:The construction is good. All plastic parts are also black now instead of that horrible computer-gray of earlier versions.I wanted them mostly because of the hall-sensors. They are accurate, but do not have the high resolution (bit-wise) of the TM Warthog HOTAS.They center well and effortless with very little play. Also, pushing them out of center is very smooth. The pedals are far enough apart to feel comfortable and natural.Negative:I have the F16 version with toe-brakes. It is difficult to feel when the brakes "hit". There is a lot of travel before that happens and no distinct point to go through. The distance between the brake-onset and full brakes is very short. I find it difficult to evenly apply the same brake pressure on both pedals. The springs and pedal hinges squeak a little, but that could probably be easily fixed. They do tend to slip because the set is pretty light. For the NGX I only use rudder on TO and landings, but for DCS Black Shark 2 the pedals are a treat to fly with (and it being a heli sim, get quite a workout).Hope this helps.
