  1. Your taxi speed during turns might be too high - 10 kts GS max is the recommendation I think. Taking sharp high speed turns on the ground will eventually trigger this failure. Hard landings (smacking the nose wheel on the runway during derotation) might do it as well, but I'm not sure about that. This info comes from the NGX, I assume it is the same with the 777.
  2. Interesting video, that certainly could put a twist on those boring fireplace DVDs. In my case this jump occurs some time after the engines have stabilized, about 30 seconds or so. After a peak of 550 °C EGT settles on a value around 390 °C, then (30 sec later) jumps to something like 445 °C, no values in between. It was in one of Froogles beta-videos, too - he commented on it ("look, it jumped").
  3. I have seen this jump but not consistently during every flight. My guess: it is related to panel state problems and falls under that category in the issues tracking thread.
  4. Same thing happened to me, I knew I had read it somewhere. Probably wouldn't hurt to put an additional note into the intro manual though.
  5. The crackling and feedback is a self test function, so it's perfectly normal. Out of curiosity I looked through the intro doc, couldn't find anything. The quote I found is from the tutorial flight, page 110: "Finally, you will hear a rather obnoxious sounding microphonic feedback and static sound as the cockpit aural systems test runs."
  6. Just checking ;-) This happens when you load the 777 from the free flight screen? If it's only one livery causing problems, I'd try reinstalling the livery (Kyle will probably yell at me for this, but since it's pretty quick to do, might be worth a try).
  7. From the intro manual, page 29: "There is a common misconception that when loading a complex simulation like the PMDG 777-200LR/F that you should first load the default Cessna into the simulator, then load the PMDG 777-200LR/F. This is not a factual conception and in fact we do not recommend the practice at all." "One shortcoming of all PMDG products for FSX is that our products do not like to be “re-loaded” on top of themselves."
  8. I have a slight hope that the SDK opens up the com part to third party developers. For example, OPUS offers an FSX menu where you can look at ATIS info on airports on your route. That function could be simulated fairly realistically through the 777 (ACARS weather request).
  9. Search the forum for compact engine display, several threads with instructions will come up.
  10. Of course - I'm sorry, I confused the two points of discussion going on. I thought he was saying: put the ZFW either in the FMC or the options to set aircraft weight. What he was actually saying: put the ZFW in the options and don't worry about the distribution. Which by the way is how I have been doing it, too - just set the ZFW that PFPX comes up with in the respective line in the setup page, let the plane figure out the distribution by itself. Set the fuel, ready for FMC preflight.
  11. Really? Entering a ZFW in the FMC PERF INIT changes the actual aircraft weight as changing ZFW in FS ACTIONS would?
  12. I remember this being asked for NGX as well - it's something I wondered about, too. Unfortunately, it cannot be done, Ryan answered that at the time. I might as well join this thread with my opinion: On my system the 777 runs very smooth, better than the NGX. I actually like the high degree of automation, because it's much easier to operate in a single pilot environment. It's a beautifully crafted machine in real life as it is in this simulation. Biggest surprise: The auto cruise feature has really opened up a whole new FSX-world for me, in the days since release I've been to places that I haven't visited since the days of Aerowinx PS1. Probably an expensive feature in the end, as this puts many more great add-on airports within reach ;-)
  13. I followed this guide: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/324786-nvidia-configuration-guide-inspector-2xxxx-drivers-version-20-explanations-of-all-settings/ I haven't read through the thread though - there might be more, better or newer recommendations in the thread itself.
  14. AP Disconnect: Press ctrl+shift+z, that is the default shortcut for the AP disconnect button on the control wheel. Press once to disconnect, press twice to cancel the alarm (wait a moment between the clicks). EICAS cancel reset: I haven't looked into it myself, but I expect you can assign a shortcut key through the FMC PMDG setup (options, key commands). Use FSUIPC to assign that key to your hardware, if you like.
  15. That is a moiré pattern effect. If you look closely at the speed and altitude tapes, you can see a small grid-like pattern that makes up the graphic. I you move the camera further away, this results in a moiré. Better anti-aliasing should make this effect less noticeable. For example I didn't notice it on my system until I looked for it, but it is very obvious with the terrain map on the ND. After resetting my driver to the settings suggested by PMDG, things look much better.
  16. Hi, he uses a trick to get the compact display: put the ND from MFD to EICAS mode (selector below the ND screen labeled INBOARD DSPL). Then select the left display on the synoptics panel (top left button L INBD), press the ENG button. You get the compact mode on the ND-screen. Now return the display selector for the ND back to MFD and select the LWR CTR button to return to the default state, but with the compact display displayed. It will stay this way until you select the ENG synoptic again. For that reason it will not work if you have the ENG synoptic displayed on the lower EICAS while you do the switching.
  17. The oxygen-test is part of the cockpit preparation flow and a checklist item, so arguably that's a good reason to simulate it. Ryan said in another thread concerning seat animations that click spots are a major performance concern and no superfluous ones were to be included.
  18. I saw this as well - yesterday. During todays' flights the status message was as I would expect (doors auto). I always started from the default panel state using the same livery. On a side note: I observed the jumping EGT right at engine-start completion - today that was gone as well and smooth. I don't know what to make of it.
  19. Have you tried a flight without fsuipc installed, just to narrow it down somewhat?

    Primer Repaints

Oh, I see. Can't help you there, sorry. Do these even get flown like that or is it only for rollout?

    Primer Repaints

Hi, I have a livery called "PMDG House (unpainted)" available in the ops center downloader - is that the one you are looking for (various shades of greenish)?
  22. Plus: once you get the hang of it, it is much faster than using the mouse-wheel.

    Is it worth $90?

Don't get me wrong, the price of the T77 is not cheap at all, but - in my opinion - it offers very good value. But what's the point? If someone thinks a competitor offers better value for money - go buy that product. If someone thinks PMDG doesn't offer a good enough value for the price they ask - don't buy it. On a side note: The A2A 172 - I will not buy it (although that plane is the only one I actually flew for real) because 50 bucks is too much for the time I would spend in it.
  24. I don't think so. If nothing was deducted from you credit card or paypal-account, I'd just buy it again.
