Flight Plan problems

Featured Replies

This may be a stupid question but here goes. I am using FS Commander 8 to develope flight plans and save them in Flight Simulator Files folder. When I go to load one of these plans in FS9, so that I can use it with GPS, I cannot find it in the plans list as this is saved as .pln and not as WX and Microsoft FlightSim data. I have selected the correct folder in FS Commander. What am I doing wrong. OS is Windows 7, Flight Sim is FS2004.

I cannot find it in the plans list as this is saved as .pln and not as WX and Microsoft FlightSim data.
FSC is a flight plan generator and not a weather generator. Its files are saved with the .pln extension and not .wx extension. The FS9 GPS uses .pln files.Or am I not reading your post correctly?David

As far as I am aware, using the a/c 421C from Flight1 with its GPS system I must load a flight plan from within FS2004. As I cannot find any of my flight plans created with FSC, even though I have the correct path in FSC to the FS2004 Flight Simulator Files folder, non of my saved FSC flights appear in the Flight Plan Selection list. The flight plans which do appear apparently come from the Flight Simulator Files folder all have the .wx and Microsoft endings to the files. Non of the .pln data appears in the Flight Plan Selection list therefore I cannot use them in my 421C GPS. I found that if I generate a plan from within FS2004 (.wx and Microsoft data) that works OK but at the same time I cannot make alterations to such a plan.

FS9 .pln files should be in your My DocumentsFlight Simulator Files folder. That contains .pln, .wx, and .flt files. FSC should store them there. I am not familiar with FSC so I don't know if you need to specifically export those files to that folder.Does the GPS require loading the files in the FS9 planner to see? I am not familiar with that custom version. Does the GPS have a page that lists the FS9 .pln files in that folder? The support forum for this model is:http://www.simforums...ums/forum8.htmlYou should also check the path to FS9 in your registry with the free registry checker utility from flight1. On Win 7 you will need to start the checker .exe with a right click on it and select run as admin to give that application elevated privileges.http://www.flight1.c...sp?page=libraryFSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool (36KB)Being on Win 7 you should have a shortcut for F9 set with its property to run as admin for application privileges. FSC probably needs that set too.

They are present in this folder, it is also pathed in FSC Otions/Flight Plans.

Yes it does.

No.

Have done.

Also done.I have just checked the Select a Flight menu and non of the FSC created flights appear there.

Have solved my problem, I hope. Found that after saving my FSC flight plan I must then load it from Creat a Flight/Flight Planner in FS2004. This then moves my a/c to start airport where I can then see the plan in the GPS. Sorry for any confusion, as I said in my first post, this maybe a stupid question, it was. Many thanks to all contributions.

Not to worry. Select a flight loads a flight saved in FS, in other words the the .flt and .wx files. In never noticed if it loads the .pln file being used since I always load saved parked aircraft environments and don't use the default .gps. If you save an in-flight state than the aircraft environment is saved and recalled. It is limited to FS9 aircraft modeled strictly to those FS9 standards. If you load an in-flight saved state then I recommend you save it in a paused condition so you can check everything on your panel to insure it is correct, then toggle the pause off. Many aircraft with special interfaces to the FS system like PMDG models go beyond FS9 standards and without special utilities cannot be restored correctly to an in-flight state.
