March 20, 201214 yr Does anyone know if there is any official word from the MS Flight team for which ports to open on your router for MS Flight? Can't seem to find any info except from this post from vultux http://forum.avsim.net/topic/365190-open-ports-to-play-online-in-ms-flight/ so I am not sure if that is reliable. Would really help peoples connection problems to know which ports to open. Thanks.
March 20, 201214 yr Author Here's a quick way to set it up.1. Click start and in the run bar type: cmd2. Then in the box that pops up type: ipconfig then push enter3. Note your Default Gateway IP, and IPv4 address.4. Type default gateway ip into your webbrowser, in most cases 192.168.0.15. Login to your router and find the port forwarding section. On my D-link its under Advanced>Gaming6. Check enable if there is such a box, Enter a name (MS Flight or something) then enter your IPv4 address into the IP address Box.7. In the UDP ports to open box enter 53,88, 1863, 3074 In the TCP ports to open box enter 53,80,443,1863, 3074 (according to Window's LIVE ports, not sure if Flight uses any others)8. Save all changes

March 20, 201214 yr http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937424 Port forwarding must be enabled on the TCP port 80. Port forwarding must be enabled on the UDP and TCP port 3074. Port forwarding must be enabled on the UDP port 88 Port forwarding must be enabled on the UDP and TCP port 53 Port forwarding must be enabled on the TCP port 443Being as all communication is done via Https I would assume port 443 would be the most important one to have open. March 20, 201214 yr Author OK thanks guys, so you think flight won't use any other ports than games for windows?
March 20, 201214 yr That should do it.If you press the HOME key in Flight and click on settings->network info you see your NAT-status. When that reads 'open' all is well. Regards, Tom
March 20, 201214 yr Being as all communication is done via Https I would assume port 443 would be the most important one to have open.HTTP and HTTPS (TCP 80 and TCP 443) are open by default in all routers, you don't need to forward this ports.Port 53 is for DNS and its open by default either to resolve domain to IP address.Port 1863 its used to Kinect at the moment. If you just open ports 3074 UDP and port 88 UDP will already have Open NAT in MS Flight multiplayer screen. For security reasons is better open just the ports you need, some routers had the option Port Trigger that open the port only when an application request.ps.: sorry again about the bad english
March 21, 201214 yr Author That should do it.thanks.Opened Ports with game running. What do you type in to bring up that command prompt?
March 21, 201214 yr That is just showing localports and irrelevant. As I said above GFWL is going through the https protocol (port 443) which also mentioned is already open by default. The connections in your picture are probably outbound connections.I think the ports on which Flight is "listening" are more relevant. You never know when they may be needed. But maybe we should try to find out during a multiplayer session (with voice enabled and such). What do you type in to bring up that command prompt?Trynetstat -anb You may need to run this from a command line window with administrator privileges. March 21, 201214 yr @ Kaloyanic.... You can make a script with this content.Change the spanish words, if you want.http://pastebin.com/nHi1A8GD
March 21, 201214 yr Author thanks for the info guys. MS Flight should have this info on their website like most other games.
March 21, 201214 yr One more note: I think Flight/Games for Windows uses UPnP. So unless your router has that disabled, you don't need to worry about any port forwarding rules. Regards, Tom
