March 25, 201214 yr CHECKLIST:- Let's forget about FLIGHT! A new company produces a GA flightsim offering just a few aircraft, but promissing additional add-ons for the near future.Would this sound interesting to you?Would you buy it?- The scenery in that sim is limited but rather detailled and immersive, the same going for Weather, and the overall physics model, looking at least as good as the best add-ons for your preferred sim until now (either xplane or fsx...).Would you go or it?Would you give it a try?- At the same time xplane and fsx continue their journey, but you know exactly what it offers, and either you like it or you are no longer up to it, anyway...Would you still enjoy playing that new sim?My answer is YES for all of the checks... What about you? Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
March 25, 201214 yr When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it would be about A/C checklists.... :Waiting:
March 25, 201214 yr My answer to date would be yes to all the above. After logging several hundred hours in FSX, most of which have been in longer haul flights utlizing ILS/IFR in the 737 and 747, I am finding Flight quite frankly to be a nice breath of fresh air. Often times during the day, I can just on a whim double click that Flight icon on my desktop and off I go - no shutting down programs first, no loading weather from my external weather program, no concerns with having my system as lean and clean beforehand, flight planning and then loading the weather textures, etc etc.I still love the above in FSX and certainly do intend to continue with it - however I can very quickly be in the air, enjoying amazing performance and beautiful graphcs, and frankly having a heck of a lot of fun with the challenges, missions, and jobs. Haven't much got into the aerocache hunts yet, but will have them for whenever I do start to get a little bored and want to try something different.GA flying, just knocking around low and slow, is something I never did in FSX or FS9. Can't really pinpoint why I didn't , guess I was just more intrigued by the large tubelines and going vast distancs at very fast speeds. And the satisfaction of planning a flight, getting clearance, dealing with atc all the way, enjoying the beautiful scenery and textures from my add-ons, and greasing a landing in without issue at my destination airport, gives me a tremendous sense of satisfaction. Matter of fact my routine for the last several years - as I work so much during the week - was doing exactly what I described first thing on Saturday morning after I have my coffee poured and by my side. Getting all that in , before the chores I need to do that day, especially during the spring/sumer. I wouldn't have traded that for anything. But for the last 3 weeks, I have not done a single flight in FSX. Much as I love it, and will continue to fly it, Flight is still very new to me and entertaining, so it is getting most of my attention for now - along with couple of other new combat sims I recently purchased and installed...As far as forgetting about Flight, guess that is hard for me to do, as your OP seems to describe Flight in great detail... but to answer your question - yes most likely if the price is reasonable I would give it a go. I am certainly intrigued by the business model, which you describe and seems to be Flight's business model currently with their ecosystem in place for Flight. But I will say, as I have no telling how many times already, if the next DLC for Flight there is not Track IR support, or at least an announcement of it to be included at an app date, I will not buy any further dlc, period. So if the new GA sim you describe, does not have native Track IR support out the chute, then my answer would be an emphatic NO! March 25, 201214 yr Author Although I never invested in TrackIR, I can understand your point!Let's hope that company releaes a fix for TrackIR compatibility :-) My answer to date would be yes to all the above. After logging several hundred hours in FSX, most of which have been in longer haul flights utlizing ILS/IFR in the 737 and 747, I am finding Flight quite frankly to be a nice breath of fresh air.
