Basically, (unless it was seriously overhauled and I don't think it was even touched) v10's rendering settings are a direct transfer of v9's except for --- HDR and the Shadow detail settings-- 'Global Low--too--Global Melt your GPU'All of the later in italics look fine to the 'Candy Simmers' but in reality cause chronic abberations in particular to 'Edge and Shadow detail' Switch on HDR & Global Medium shadows & do a couple of Circuits on a sunny day--Brilliant the way the light crosses the panel etc. Brilliant to the 'Candy Simmer' maybe but freeze it for a second, watch how the jerkiness stops, & have a Ganders at the shadows on the panel--better still get outside and look at the plane!Best results so far Have beenCompress Tex/save VRAM=offScreen AA=x16 extreemAntisotropic=x16 extreemShadow detail 3D on aircraft. (Only workable setting for pristine shadows and edges--never Global#)85-100% cloudsRun full screen @ highest resolution poss--this is important!Adjust the GPU maually & by sight from the cards default setting & avoid the pre-aligned options e.i-- X-Plane exe/battleship etc-etc a lot of them are'nt to clever.(P.S Nothing whatsoever against 'Candy Simmers' it's just that there suddenly seem to be a lot of Sweet Toothed FSX converts trying to Sweeten up X-Plane & my Vet says I've gotta cut down on Sugar)

:( Well, I like it also the way it looks during the day. Did you even try to fly during the day ? I just love the shadows.
Yep, I tried during the day, that is why I like it at night :( Too much of a hit with shadows. Cannot seem to find a happy setting.

:( You have a high end GPU and overclocked i7 and you're unable to use shadows ? I'm still flying with a Core 2 / 8800GT system and it's smooth. OK, I'm not using default X-Plane 10 sceneries, nor HDR, but even with heavier default sceneries I can't imagine you'll not find a happy setting.Start here:http://developer.x-plane.com/2011/12/tips-for-better-frame-rates-pt-1/http://forum.avsim.net/forum/438-x-plane-tips-and-tricks/Happy flying.

Since I have most cranked up already, the shadows begins to produce a few stutters. So, I don't use it. I would have to adjust other sliders downward, and I don't wish to do that. I can live without the shadows. I mostly fly at night anyway.Bob
