Simconnect issue for 2012 upgrade

Featured Replies

I have run ASE since it was released on a two computer set up and I now want to upgrade to 2012 but simconnect has failed with my internet supplier replacing my router with a higher speed combination modem and router. The Traffic AI will not connect. Before upgrading I would like to know if there is something simple required to get me going like opening a port or ports or changing an IP address. Any help will be much appreciated.

If all that has changed is the router, then I would suspect a changed IP address is responsible. The simconnect.cfg file on the client (and the simconnect.xml on the server) defines the server IP address and this must be correct. It must also be static (instead of Dynamic/DHCP) and not conflicting with other DHCP addresses - unless you are using computer name instead of IP address in the config. The port you use (usually 500) shouldn't be a problem as this is all intranet traffic, but depending on the config it is worth a check to make sure 500 port traffic on the LAN is allowed. In either case we can take a look at your details in a support ticket, or you can post here for community help. The contents of your simconnect.xml and simconnect.cfg would be very helpful. Thanks!
