NL 2000 Scenery now released but be prepared for a long wait

Recommended Posts

Guest Kflemming

Hi all,The latest version of the NL2000 scenery is now up at the 'other' flightsim site. Be prepared for a long wait though. The file is a massive 220Mb and the best connection speed I can get is 3.6k/s which equates to a download time of 20 hours! One of the reasons I hate downloading from them.Any chance that Avsim will be hosting the file in the near future? If so then I'll wait.CheersKieran

Hi,I am interested to hear if frame rates are any better than with the previous version of NL2000. In that case FS2002 turned into a slide show on my machine.Cheers,Henri

Hi!Does any one know if there's a new EHAM included? If yes, why don't they release it as a stand alone version? Toby

Good thinking batman, I too would like to know how the frames I before I "commit" to downloading a huge 200mb file, being on dial-up its gonna take a while, and its not a light download if its all for nothing.NL2000 run very slowly on my FS2002 too.Dan.

Hi Kieran,on the NL2000 website it says that the file will be uploaded to Avsim as well. It also says: >>Some people have asked if it is allowed to share the scenery on P2P networks like Kazaa and Edonkey. This is allowed as long as the file is the original file: "NL2Kv29a.zip". This file may not be altered in any way.<http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg

They might try making a Bit Torrent for it as well in the future (once the use of BT has become more widespread)

After a 30 minute download from flightsim.com last night, we've installed the scenery and it looks really good. It has a menu that allows you to select how dense you want to get, which helps alot. Haven't flown in it yet.Lee

yes, allnodesarebusy.com has it.I've even been able to log in yesterday with under 100 attempts and download the file without it getting corrupted or interrupted which is pretty much a first.

Well guys save your self some time... I'm really disappointed. I still get very low frame rates and the scenery looks like it has been made in the time of FS98 :(http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/70948.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/70949.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/70950.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/70951.jpghttp://www.flightfactory-simulations.com/h...B_testpilot.jpg[a href=http://www.ifdg.net]--iFDG website!--[/a]

Hi Guys,It seems to be getting the thumbs up on the NL2000 site.To save yourself some time go to www.cnet.com and download "download accelerator plus" (dap.exe).Install it and use it's download manager to download from flightsim.com.I'm getting 40kb/s and an estimated download time of 1h 28mins.Downloaded 40Mb so far in a little over 10 minutes.CheersKieran

I must say, the ground textures look a lot like FS2000. But before you send it all to the recycle bin, consider using the airports only. They do look very nice and are definitely worth keeping. The .bgl files are all named in a logical manner, so it's easy enough to pick out the airports. All that's needed then is some exclude switches to delete the default airports (those are easy enough to make).Cheers,Gosta. http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg
