April 6, 201214 yr Seriously, though, I am trying to set up a new computer, and after many "two steps forward, one step back" kind of dealies, I am getting close to my old set of add-ons, adapted to the machine, of course. But, I cannot seem to get the "external fps limiter" to install? I download it, unzip it with Winrar evaluation copy, and it seems as if it just "flashes" for an instant, and that's the end of it? When I had this utility on my old Vista64 computer, there was a shortcut (actually quite a few) created on the desktop, nothing like that this time. Running W7 64bit now. Bejote's tweaker site recommends this utility, and I know the 2 made FSX 100 times better on the old machine, so I would like to at least try it on this machine (laptop). April 6, 201214 yr OK, Tracy - I hep you.... Bojote's site is slipping back a little, as Nvidia now supplies a frame limiter within Nvidia "Inspector". First, download Nvidia Inspector:- from here. Once you've installed it, go to PMDG here and read and/or download Ryan's "how-to" doc, and save it 'somewhere'. Then open up Inspector, choose "MS Flight Simulator X" from the drop-down menu, top left corner. Pick some settings for your FSX installation and while doing this browse down to the section labelled "Common", and set your Frames to 30.. or whatever .... Don't forget to hit the "Apply Changes" in the top right corner. It sure beats messing around with that darned Java thingy. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
April 6, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the "hep". Browsing around the web, it seems Chrome does not play nice with Java, which may be part of my problem in getting the downloaded limiter to unpack/run properly. To Paul>>I am going to bookmark that site, and study it, lot of info there, thanks.
April 6, 201214 yr Personally I find anti-lag a far easier, more effective FPS Limiter to use with FSX. You simply place the DLL and the CFG in your FSX root folder and you're done. (make sure FSX is set to unlimited frames!). Simply open anti-lag's CFG file and set the FPS you want. Done! April 6, 201214 yr Doesn't get any easier than setting the framerate in nvidia inspector. No dll's to install, no .cfg to edit. Locks the frame rate nice and steady. Bud Estrada
April 10, 201214 yr Author Doesn't get any easier than setting the framerate in nvidia inspector. No dll's to install, no .cfg to edit. Locks the frame rate nice and steady. Still having trouble, sorry. I downloaded Inspector, followed the instructions linked above, but there was no line for frame rate limiter under the common settings. Version 1.9.5.11 FWIW, just using bejote's tool, without the external or Inspector limiters, my frames vary wildly from the 50's to the 80's. (Which I find to be amazing on a laptop!) I did not have Java, so installed that, got to the GUI, but when clicking "create .bat", didn't see any changes, and most certainly not a desktop shortcut, which I did have on my old Vista64 system. Frankly, I am at a loss. edit: I am away from the internet for days at a time, so if I fail to reply with a thanks and/or update in a timely manner, that's why. I do read your suggestions, and appreciate them, believe me!
April 10, 201214 yr 4th line down in "Common" http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52676345/Inspector_1.9.5.11.jpg i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
April 10, 201214 yr Author Paul, away from computer now, will check that out. Don't know how I missed that. Thanks. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
May 14, 201214 yr Author Sorry to bring this thread up from the dead, but wanted to thank all that replied. Updated my driver which allowed a newer Inspector, which gave me the FPS limiter setting. And all is good! :good:
May 14, 201214 yr You need java for the limiter to run, download java its free looking good...looking good
