  1. Ah. Thanks, Bert, I thought it was a bit steep! I owe you a beer!
  2. I am trying to decide between FSX and P3D, but I don't think this is a P3D question. Before my FSX install became unmanageable, I ordered and used, with good results, the GTN750 in my A2A general aviation aircraft. Looking around to order it for my P3D experiment (academic version), and it costs $150? I can't believe I paid that much for it before. http://www.flight1tech.com/products/avionicssimulations/g750simulator.aspx I love my simulator, and I love (d) the 750, but holy crapanoly! I don't want to spend that much, is it any less expensive anywhere else besides the above link?
  3. Or do they transfer seamlessly, with out any action on my part? Boxed edition is so bloated with addons, I think, that it will not load fully before it hangs, but I hate to have to purchase everything again. Simply cannot afford it. I have purchased P3D, but there I know that most addons ( A2A, Realair, GTN750, ASN, REX etc, ) would have to be repurchased, so not sure if I want to go that route. Between a rock and a hard place.
  4. Deleted fsx.cfg and it did load past 86%, however, I then loaded the A2A Texan into the sim and it was looking great until I tried to do anything in the VC, froze again, with no textures displayed. I'll keep trying things on this end, if anyone comes up with some ideas, I would sure appreciate it.
  5. Nope, no AI addons at all, and I just went in and shut all default AI. It even got worse, froze in the airplane selection screen. OT, but in the last month, I have spilled coffee all over the keyboard of this machine, dropped my smart phone and shattered the screen, bought a cheap Walmart computer to get me by until this machine could be repaired, struggled with Win10 on that computer, and had passwords invalidated because, of course, it was a new machine trying to access the website. AAAAAAAAAAAAAArrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
  6. I am my wit's end with this problem because software is not my forte. I've searched the internet, including here at Avisim. Anybody have an idea what I can do (in small words, please )
  7. Thanks, guys. I've been busy with medical stuff, haven't been able to try your suggestions yet, but thanks.
  8. I have never had this problem before, or anything close to it. I have shut the machine off (using task manager) at least a half dozen times, and it always hangs at 86%. I've been using this same machine for at least two years, never had a problem running FSX (although at reduced settings, of course). Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
  9. I would say it's the best region yet. I especially like the photo-real areas in the desert. So much variety!
  10. 86 Gigs + whatever Orbx SCA will ad.
  11. Not sure if we are talking about the same phenomena, but I used to have, sometimes, a completely flat "fog" layer under certain conditions, totally unrealistic. I read that REX Soft Clouds would fix this, bought it, and problem solved- for me, anyway. YMMV, but I am happy with the result. BTW, I run FSX-MS.
  12. I am also running ASN, if that would make any difference in your answers. I am looking for more realistic types of cloud depiction, i.e., having the appearance in the sim more closely resemble what I would see if I looked out the window (which I occasionally do, LOL). Thanks in advance.
  13. I haven't done this for years. Doesn't seem to cause any problems. I also don't restart my computer before simming, like I used to always do. I don't fly tubeliners, though, GA and mostly A2A and Realair so I suppose that could be different.
  14. I believe that Bowerman (make sure you get the correct download) is available in the PNW demo, as well. Not sure how that would play with Global, but I would think it would be fine.
  15. Seems to be a broken link.
  16. Thanks, bit of a hassle to register, but appears to be what I was looking for.
  17. Is there one on Avsim? Or on some other site? I am talking something where just ordinary users, like me, can discus how to use the features, etc. Flight1's site, as far as I can see, is more to do with installation concerns. I am more concerned with how to use the product, i.e., how do I make a flight plan utilizing airways, for example.
  18. And I must be the exception to the rule. Have TIR5 and rarely use it. Always unpack it (travel with a laptop), but usually just use the hat switch. And every time I read one of these threads, I vow to use, and never do. Now if I was flying a combat sim, it would be a different thing, but for a civilian sim, I am not convinced it is necessary. Hell, I'll probably try it again tonite, LOL.
  19. Ant's Tiger Moth is the only freeware airplane on my hard drive. Hardly a tubeliner, though.
  20. Just looking for opinions/observations. I've watched videos of both planes, and they both seem to be very high quality, but really, I don't have a clue as to which would be better for a beginner in turboprops. I fly "low and slow", and guess that these airplanes would be "medium and medium"?
  21. fltsimguy, Thank you for setting up the comparisons in an easy to view way. Not sure which I prefer, to be honest. Happy with ORBX trees, but that doesn't mean they are the best.
  22. I can't get SC to work, either, but I suspect it is on my end. UAC issues I suspect. Watching NFL, when that is done, I will contact support. First things first, LOL!!!
  23. Thank you!
