October 31, 201312 yr aite thanks man. ill just use the C:\Program Files (x86) cause im not that technical lol, and it also seems easier. i hope windows 8.1 doesnt give me hell and it runs smooth. When you install in your own folder it acquires your permissions. When you install in Program Files it acquires the permissions of that folder which do not include write and modify for the group "Users". So if you want to use the default install folder Program Files then all you need do as soon as you got it installed is set write and modify permissions on the FSX folder for the users group and allow subfolders. Now it reacts the same as if you made your own folder.
November 3, 201312 yr Windows 8.1 works, but I would advise to create a folder C:\FSX and install there. November 4, 201312 yr Windows 8.1 works, but I would advise to create a folder C:\FSX and install there. im now installing fsx goldand i choose C: drive in the options where i want it to be downloaded and it said it cant be routed to drive c so i typed on fsx and it seems to be working now. do you think it would give me any trouble?
November 4, 201312 yr It will give less trouble than %programfiles% directory 1) Make sure you set the permisions to run 'As Administrator'. 2) You may have to use the uiautomationcore.dll file trick (save in C:\FSX) 3) For Windows 8.0 and 8.1 use of the registered FSUIPC is mandatory (from my experience). 4) Install DX9 from the websetup before installing any addon aircraft (like PMDG).
