April 7, 201214 yr BSOD! This happens on boot and I cant get into windows. tried the start-up repair and have default CPU settings. Can anyone identify this one? It is a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. I will try and upload a picture soon. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
April 7, 201214 yr Author Can't upload a picture because I get the Error 413 with the jpeg. Tried a bit of RAM troubleshooting but it seems it could be be a memory problem of anything. So VRAM or cache could also be a problem. Sort of hoping it would be a cache problem so I can get an Ivy Bridge replacement. The only other thing I can add is that it had a double boot but that was probably because I hadn't used it for a few days. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. April 7, 201214 yr FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA is almost always related to a RAM issue. Be sure that you are gving enough voltage. Also loosen your timings a bit if you are running them at very high timings.
April 7, 201214 yr Here's a link to some possible fixes... http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff559023(v=vs.85).aspx Best regards, Jim
April 7, 201214 yr Author FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA is almost always related to a RAM issue. Be sure that you are gving enough voltage. Also loosen your timings a bit if you are running them at very high timings. Everything is at default, so I can't really see that as a fix. They are 9-9-9-24 1333MHz. Over at the Overclockers.net forum they have said that it could be a Windows 7 problem and a reinstall may fix it which would mean REINSTALLING ALL OF FSX :'(. 1st world problems :) Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. April 8, 201214 yr I was havinga BSOD with the same error message that was being caused by Gigabyte's 'Charge While Off' feature. By uninstalling that feature I was able to eliminate the problem. I'm not sure while it gives a message so frequently associated with RAM problems, but that was the fix.
April 8, 201214 yr Author Yeah well I can't boot into windows with this so that option is a slight problem. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern

April 8, 201214 yr Author I am going to try and reinstall Windows on a fresh drive so I don't wipe a possibly good HDD. Anyway, may try that tomorrow or Tuesday, for now, I have had enough. April 9, 201214 yr Author I am trying to backup everything on the HDD but for some reason (for the users file at least) on the C: drive its around 66mb, when I copy it it takes ages cos its copying 4.6GB or something. Why is it so large all of a sudden!? Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
April 9, 201214 yr Please name your topics accordingly. "Oh dear :(" is not really a meaningful topic title. Thanks.
April 9, 201214 yr Author Yes, thanks for doing that. I thought I should mention my problem after I posted the topic but I was in a state of unhappiness and didn't really think. Well the update on the situation is I am currently still transferring all the files and in the morning I shall try and reload Windows. All I should need to reinstall are the drivers and a bit of software. Hopefully it was the HDD and nothing else otherwise this was an incredible waste of time! April 10, 201214 yr Author Ok so Windows seems to be installing fine and I have everything backed up. Its just like when I started out with this machine. I have mostly everything from the HDD backed up on a PHDD. So that's the users files, program files + (x86), my Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder and a few other FSX things. I didn't copy over REX because that's easy to install and I didn't really have much on it. Now, what is the best way to transfer all these files? Do I just copy the FSX folder and its documents over in one big hit, or should I install default FSX and then copy over the addons? Everything is tuned for this PC so I can't see why I should have to reinstall it all. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society.
