April 12, 200422 yr For the last week or so, I have not been able to download the weather using Active Sky - 4000 from their "HiFi Data Net"... it just never finishes downloading. Sometimes I'm get a message, "Internet Connection Unstable". I have changed some settings on my FIREWALL so I'm NOT sure if the trouble is from something I've done, or is the HiFi Data Net for Active Sky 4000 been having problems of their on ?Last question. Is there a differance in the weather that I get from Active Sky and the Default downloaded weather I would get from the Ddefault downloaded weather from FS2004 using the Jeppsen connection. To be honest, I can NOT see the differance. Thanks for the help.jerry
April 12, 200422 yr You should post this in the ActiveSky 2004 support forum, but I personally have not found any issues downloading in recent weeks whatsoever. Nor have I ever seen that "Internet Connection Unstable" message - is that an ActiveSky 2004 message, or does that have something to do with your connection and or firewall? Based on this, I'd suspect your internet settings. With respect to the quality of the weather data - the data should be "real weather" in both cases, but I find the active sky data to be more current. I primarily fly within the USA, so experiences, and in fact quality of weather data, outside the USA may be much different. What I like most about ActiveSky is that unlike MS/Jeppesson real weather, many many layers of wind, cloud, and various cloud types are generated by ActiveSky - this doesn't happen with jeppesson. This alone makes the weather look much more realistic than the default. While the parameters such as wind, temp, pressure, etc might match, the depth of the weather data is much better for AS2004.Hope that helps,Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
April 12, 200422 yr No problems with mine, sounds like it could be a firewall issue. I flew a lot this weekend, and ActiveSky worked fine every time for me. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
April 13, 200422 yr Thanks for the replys. I'll have to check into the firewall to see if it was causing the problems. Thanks for the feed back. jerry
April 13, 200422 yr Problem solved. I use a program called "Black Ice" as a firewall so I turned OFF the "engine" and right away A.S. downloaded so then I went looking and found that I had ( by mistake) placed a "block forever" on the program that downloads the weather. All is well and the clouds look great. jerry
