April 9, 201214 yr i'm a little confused as to why XP10 has an 8 CD install and no famous landmarks in major cities, lol. Are the cities atleast modeled correctly? FSX shipped on 2 CD'S and includes alot more, lol i'm from Montreal, Canada and FSX includes my old baseball stadium "THE OLYMPIC STADIUM" which has not been used since our baseball team left in 2004. i wan't 2 buy XP10 but i also want to know how real everything looks from the cockpit. i tried the demo and liked the graphics and sound but how is the whole planet?
April 9, 201214 yr It's 8 DVDs because of the high resolution terrain mesh and land class data which is considerably more detailed than any thing Flight Simulator shipped with. Unfortunately, there are few if any major landmarks, and urban areas are still a work in progress. There are no graphics for tall buildings, so the sim currently uses shorter buildings as place holders. However, the data is there for better city detail as soon as the crew at Laminar gets around to creating the graphics for them. That said, X-Plane 10 has some of the best rural scenery I've ever seen in a desktop sim.
April 9, 201214 yr lol i'm from Montreal, Canada No baseball stadium, no landmarks, no airport buildings, but you'll see a very nice worlwide mesh, landclass, and all these streets: http://www.openstree...oom=11&layers=M You'll find free add-on sceneries here: http://maps.google.c...21755,10.107422 Happy flying ! April 9, 201214 yr Cities and towns will be modeled based on their street maps, just like Seattle. It is not at all like MSFS which included notable landmarks and auto-generated accurate "generic" skyscrapers in cities. The demo is reportedly very indicative of what you will see with the full product. Cities and towns will look very much like what you see in the Seattle area, except with your local streets. You should expect no enhancements or improvements to the "style" of scenery when you buy the full version as compared to the demo. -Greg
April 9, 201214 yr ok thank you 4 the replies, i will buy it 2morrow, it won't hurt to have FSX and XP10 on the same pc for some awesome flying.

April 9, 201214 yr What is the mesh resolution of XP10? Variable: many elevation points in mountains, less where it's flat. http://developer.x-plane.com/2009/04/so-how-big-of-a-mesh-can-you-build/ http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2011/12/10/developer-interview-andras-fabian-mr-x-terrain/ http://developer.x-plane.com/2011/04/what-is-the-cost-of-1-million-vertices/ Georges - OpenStreetMap - Ubuntu GNU/Linux -
