April 11, 201214 yr Hi, trying to populate a new version of DNAA that a mate and I have done. In order too make it realistic decided to build up a fleet of Nigerian Air planes . Iv'e found plenty of 737's and installed them via Traffic 2005. But I wanted something a bit larger, i.e 767 etc. After much searching found the aim_b762 and a texture aim_762_nigeria. Installed this and modified the .air file using Aired in order to see it in the aircraft selection drop down. At first it showed but no textures visible, then FS9 crashed. On reboot I could not see it in the aircraft list and after several re-installs gave up. I then tried the Aardvark version, downloaded the aia762ge.zip alongwith the aia_b762ge_nigeriaairways.zip. First off installed the aia762, again modified the .air file, but it doesnt show in the drop down listing. Also noticed that the .air file is shown as aia_767_300_ge.air, On opening the Nigerian Texture file the FlightSim entry states sim=aia_767_200. Question is, which is right, the Blank Aardvark file which is allegedly for a 762 or the texture file? Regards Johnt
April 11, 201214 yr First of all, the only thing you should modify in any fixed wing plane's .AIR file is the "Aircraft Type" entry. A "2" will result in the aircraft not being selectable in your sim's "select aircraft" drop down menu. This is normal for all non flyable AI planes. A "0" (zero) will result in the aircraft being selectable and is normal for all flyable fixed wing planes. If you would want to see your AI plane, e.g. to initially check it's appearence, use "0" (zero). You can then select the plane to see how it looks and if it looks correct then you should change it's "Aircraft Type" back to "2". Don't forget to save the .AIR file after any changes. Furthermore, I think you are quite seriously mixing some things up. In the AIRCRAFT.CFG file the entry: "sim=........." entry must contain the exact name of your AIR file. E.g. Sim=aia_767_300_ge (without the ".air" extension). The "aia_767_300_ge.air" file must be located within the same folder as where your AI plane's Aircraft.cfg file is located. Normally, any AI plane's folder may contain only a Model folder, one or more related texture folders for different paints, an aircraft.cfg file and an .Air file. Other folders like panel and/or sound folders are unnecessary. If after checking the above your plane still remains untextured then you have a synchronisation problem between your plane's Model folder and it's related textures. These are dedicated to each other and cannot be interchanged. Hope this helps. Hans
April 11, 201214 yr I would like to add just a little to the very helpful post by Hans. The Malcontent model of the 767-200 is a bit more modern and looks slightly better than the venerable Aardvark model. It is however very easy to run into problems such as you described in your original post. With the number of model and sub-model variations present it is very easy to have problems in the 'model=' section of the aircraft configuration file. If the author of the texture(s) you try to add did not use the proper syntax in their sample aircraft configuration and you have copied and pasted that into your aircraft's file (or you do not follow the naming conventions required) then you will see things like the no textures showing or the engines textures being displayed incorrectly. Again. the syntax in the 'model=' section must be the same as that model referred to in the name of the texture in the texture folder you are adding and further more the 'model=' section must correctly point to the sub model (if any) required by that texture. Here is a example: [Fltsim.0] title=AIM B767-200 American Airlines sim=AIM B767-200 model=geh/geh-e ---------------------- AI_Malcontent_767_200_GEH --------------------- (texture) in the texture.American folder. texture=American and for the model: Model.geh ------------ with a sub folder named GEH-E which contains the model named 'AI Malcontent 762 GEH.MDL' You may have to do a little detective work with the texture and model assignment to get everything to match up and show properly. I also hope this helps some. Best regards, Mel
April 12, 201214 yr Author Thanks Lads, after much re-naming and poke and hope. We managed to get the Aardvark "Nigerian texture" one to show and via T2005 have implemented it into the scenery. But try as we might, we cannot get the Malcontent one to show. We have had it displayed without textures, but as soon as we try to add the "Nigerian" text file. One of two things happen, FS Crashes or no textures displayed. We'll have another go to-night, with ref to Mels comments above, assuminhg the mate's patience holds out. Once again thanks for the response. Regards JohnT
April 13, 201214 yr Author Hi all, well, patience has run out. We've tried every variation of syntax but no way will this work. Can only assume the D/L is corrupted in some way. Thanks for the assistance. Regards Johnt
